Hey girls. I feel like there is a lot more traffic over here vs the allergy board.
We are going on vacation for a whole week, and will be eating out every meal. I am getting nervous wondering what I can feed DD2. She is wheat, dairy, egg and peanut free. I plan on packing some pouches, and oat o cereal. Other than that I am wondering what I can do. I assume I can get fresh fruit of some kind at most places. Any good ideas? We are going to a theme park one day, and they have their whole menu with nutritional information online. The only thing listed that she could eat is french fries!
Re: MSPI moms
I hope I am feeling needlessly anxious. It is so much harder this time around with additional allergies, and with DD1 eating so much "good" stuff that DD2 now wants. It makes me feel awful when she cries and reaches for DD1's food. I know I can certainly scrape around to get something to eat, but looking over menus I see that I can get guac and chips or french fries..chili...all things that I wouldn't feed to DD2. I bet you are right about the sides of plain veggies and meat though.
Ditto PPs.. I would pack as much non-perishables as possible, and maybe plan on stocking up for the day at a grocery store each morning. Hummus and veggie sticks, MSPI-safe lunchmeats, maybe some bean dips? Definitely get a hotel room with fridge. Find out what you can and can't bring into the theme park. Ask restaurants to modify their menu or just make you something safe. Whenever I asked for this and explained why everyone was always very accommodating. Ask lots of questions about how they prep and season their food so you can sniff out any possibly cross-contamination or hidden ingredient issues.
I know it feels overwhelming to have to prepare ahead of time, but it will be ok. We always traveled with a cooler, whether we'd be gone for a few hours or a few days! Diapers, check. Water bottle, check. Snacks, check.
Just became part of our routine. GL and have fun!
