Is your LO walking and/or talking? For the purposes of this poll walking consistently taking 3 or more unassisted steps. Talking is 1 word use consistently other than mama or dada.
He talks a lot but no walking get. Ds1 was the opposite- walking early but no talking (like only 2 words) until he was 2 and then it was complete sentences.
He walks but talking? He is talking in only a language he understands. We have no idea most of the time what he is saying or trying to say.
This! He is do clearly trying to tell us something, but it's all gibberish. He gets such an earnest look on his face, though! I feel so bad that we don't understand him! He does say mama, dada, bath, and E-I-E-I-O (at the right places in the song and also whenever he feels like it.)
I would say walking but not talking. The only word I think he definitely knows the meaning of is dada. I'm not sure about a couple of others like mama and nono, which seem hit or miss.
I talked to his pedi because when DD was his age, she was talking a lot. She's also ridiculously smart. I told her I know it's not fair to compare my kids but it's all I have to go on. She said it isn't so much unfair to compare kids as it is genders- boys are apparently 3-6 months behind in language development. She said as long as he seems to understand what I'm saying (which he does) then he's fine.
Walking, but not talking. He says mama and dada every now and then, but mostly just jibberish. He would much rather walk and climb things than try and say words.
He just started trying to take more than one unassisted step at a time a couple days ago, but nothing consistant yet. This boy can communicate like a champ though with actually speaking as well as using sign language.
@kittengator it is SO hard not to compare! Not like I'm judging my kids but it's my only frame of reference. It's difficult because they are both boys but Lo is way behind where G was both walking and talking at this point. BUT he is way bigger and a totally different, more cautious personality so it just goes to show I really need to stop using G as a frame of reference.
No walking, no talking but I think he kind of has a few words, or at least the first syllable of a few favorite things "mmmm" (milk) "baba" (bottle) and "papa" (grandpa). But that's about it and it's mostly pointing at things he wants.
Walking, but not talking other then mama and dada.
He understands though. When I ask if he wants a sippy, he gets excited. When I tell him to go find his sippy, he'll go look. I tell him to go get his ball, he will.
Yesterday I told him " go give that to Connor. " and he totally went to his brothers room to give him his toy.
I'll ask him to give me what he has (I.e. A pen, paper, diaper, ect) and he'll bring it to me.
Walking for a few months, but talking is a here and there thing. She knows some words (and uses them correctly) but she goes back and forth with the gibberish to real words. Just recently we've been getting a lot of "iiis dat" while pointing (I'm taking it as what's that?) so we do a LOT of walking around the house itemizing everything on every shelf, in every cupboard, and everywhere else. I sure hope it leads to new words learnt, because it is starting to get slightly annoying... (I swore I'd never say anything my child did was annoying... I'm breaking that rule today)
No walking but she just started crawling and cruising. She says mama, dada, ball and dog but that's it. Lots of babbling but who knows what she's saying..definitely going to be a talker.
I'm absolutely convinced that Abby's adenoid issues were making it harder to hear clearly. Since she had them out she started saying "uh oh" and "all done" in the past few days, and using "mama" correctly. I was actually concerned that her taking was delayed before, but now she seems to be doing awesome in this department!!

This exactly. He's saying SOMETHING but it's not English lol the other night he was repeating the same gibberish phrase over and over while looking intently at us. We're sure he was trying so hard to tell us something.
My.lil guy is holding things and stands well but will hold hands for support. He talks gibberish all the time, i noticed more at 11 months when we took the paci away. Hes 13 months can day Hi, go, ya for yes, understands no or stop , bye and mo for more.
She's not walking yet, but she's cruising, climbing, and standing alone for a few seconds, so I think she is getting close. She runs her mouth non-stop and has close to 20 words so far. Definitely more of a talker than a walker.
Been walking since the beginning of July. Started to talk a lot more recently. He's saying: hi, bye-bye, up, bear, baby, dada, mum. Of course mum is my fave!!!
