I love his name. I chose traditional in the poll, but I don't know anyone named Edmund. We call him Eddie most of the time, and it suits him perfectly.

Love this name. Ds1's middle name is Edmund, named for a relative and Sir Edmund Hillary - explorer and humanitarian. DS1 hasn't shown any humanitarian tendancies, but every time he scales a piece of furniture, he gets called by his middle name.

@LenaLove‌ My DS1 is an Eddie and we've only met one other Eddie since he was born!

We get funny looks if we introduce DS2 as "Howard," but when we call him "Howie" (which we do 90% of the time), we get mostly positive responses. I didn't expect it to be the most applauded name on the block;)
Eddie and Howie, too cute! I love it!

    Is Eddie short for anything?

I always pronounced the french spelling ma-de-lein. Like "rein" in reindeer. I always thought it was spelled that way to sound extra French lol I love mad-a-line though!
  • We still love her name (Adlee). It's different without being too you-neek and I don't know anyone with that name. We've gotten a great response on the name too, which we kept quiet until she was born.

Her middle name (Grace) I still love, but, it's crazy popular now. I'm not thrilled with that but I love it and it goes well so whatevs! And, she is definitely an Adlee Grace so it's perfect.

  • I was so relieved that we had a girl because DH and I knew we would name her Helen after DH's grandmother MN is Elizabeth after my grandmother's MN. We love the name and like that it isn't overly popular. If we would have had a boy this time I'm pretty sure I'd be hating the name right now.

  • We learned the name Arya when I was pregnant with DS...yes, from Game of Thrones. Both DH and I thought it was a pretty name and put it on the back burner for girls names should the need arise (which it didn't in that pregnancy). This time around, we decided that would be the name...nothing else caught our fancy in the two years since DS. I never second guessed the name while pregnant, but we also told exactly ZERO people (not counting the etsy lady who made a hat for me :P ). After she was born and we started getting people asking how to pronounce the name I thought, "seriously, what is hard about this name?" Oh well. I know we probably get some side-eyes since it's from GoT, but I don't care...I like the spelling with the y over the more traditional Aria.
Her middle name is my mom's name (she passed away 14 years ago this coming Sept) and my middle name. Never a question that it wouldn't be Lynn.

FTR: my all time favorite girl's name is Brielle. My step-sister named her daughter Brianna 4 years ago, thus killing my chance of using my name (they have the same nickname...I wasn't going to go there). I'm still bitter...
I really love that name! That was actually the name we were going to use if we had a girl, DH had learned it from GoT as well and loved it. I think that Lynn goes really well with it, and being it's a name that runs through my family it just makes me love your choice even more. ANYWAYS, I didn't want to only comment on how beautiful of a name that was, I was also commenting on how I thought it was kind of funny that both of us enjoyed the name and if our baby would have been named Arya she would have also ended up with my mother's middle name, who passed away 5 1/2 years ago. Great minds thing alike. :)

  • I chose the "traditional" option in the poll although I don't think of it as a particularly traditional name, but LO's name is Nathan William.
Nathan has always been one of my favorite boy names (and there aren't that many that I really love, not to mention that DH and I could agree on).  For the last couple months of my pregnancy I just really felt like that should be his name and thankfully just before delivering, DH started saying he was liking the name more and more.  Since DS1's middle name was after DH's grandfather it was pretty much a given that this one's MN would be after one of mine.  William was my mom's dad's name and he was very special to me.  One of my dad's brothers is also William (although both he and Grandpa are/were called Bill) and it's also my brother's middle name.
We haven't gotten any negative reactions, everyone seems to love the name.

  • @TwizzyG‌ Cora was #1 on my list but got vetoed by DH. My great great aunt was a Cora! Beautiful name.

@jensavicci‌ I don't mind mad-a-lein! I just think people would find me pretentious for pronouncing it that way lol. I forgot to mention that we chose the traditional French spelling as a tribute to my mom who died last February. Her middle name was Michele spelled the French way and everyone always added the extra L.

Sadie Lynn's name fits her perfectly. I don't know anyone with that name (which is hard to do - I teach high school), although I know there's another Sadie Lynn on this BMB, because she has awesome taste like us! :) Her middle name was my mother's name who passed away three years ago tomorrow (which was also LO's due date), so the name has all sorts of layers of meaning.

I tried to find a shrek gif. Fail. But here's this.

  • Leeanne is named after her paternal grandparents. All of the girls on MIL side have the middle name Anne. So we used FIL middle name lee and added the Anne. But for her middle name we went with DH's mn which is Rory (Irish). Leeanne Rory. It fits her well and people seem to enjoy the old-timey-country-ness of it.

I also thought this was about nicknames and I call her squeaker.
