@mcclan03 I read that one about the baby's sex a long time ago, so I might be remembering wrong, but if it went down the way I remember, she got the doctor to tell her the sex, right? I would be SO PISSED at both her AND the doctor. FOR REAL.
The MIL got the ultrasound tech to tell her the sex. The woman who was pregnant went to an OB her MIL recommended, and her MIL was friendly with the tech. The MIL showed up during the appointment and "came out all smiles" into the waiting room after the daughter-in-law's ultrasound was finished and after apparently talking to the ultrasound tech one-on-one. (The couple had made it clear to everyone at the office that the sex was supposed to be a secret.) Not only did the MIL find out the sex against their wishes, she then announced it to the family. So this poor woman started getting messages like "congrats on your little girl!", which is how she found out the sex of her own baby. A bunch of family and friends found out before her, thanks to her MIL.
I would seriously LOSE MY MIND. She said they threatened legal action against the dr's office and switched docs, but still. You can't undo that damage.

There is no way in hell I would be okay with that. What a huge line to cross. That said, I do not plan on having my MIL in the room while I'm in labor. Maaaaybe my mom, but that's only bc FI gets very squeamish and I don't want him to pass out and then I'd be alone.
