Now that we are all done with our labors and deliveries...thought it might be interesting to see how our group breaks down...

So, what type of birth did everyone end up having?

  • My neighbors four year old asked me how the baby got out of my belly, her mom told her that Charlie came out my belly button!

  • @katekat8721‌ you might know...did any of our twin mom's deliver one vaginally and one c-section? I forgot to put that in as a choice (@ElTrain5‌ 's post reminded me of this terrifying option).
  • @mom&nurse I had general anesthesia because the spinal didn't work and I could feel pain. I was wondering who else had it to!
I feel like I could have put SS considering I started vaginal with an epidural and pushed for two and a half hours, went to c-section with a spinal, and ended up with general anesthesia and a c-section.

Not @katekat8721‌ but I know that one ended up with the double whammy. I'll let her out herself if she wants though.

  • I almost put SS. I had a few hits of nitrous oxide. Helpful hint- it does nothing. So I had a med free vaginal delivery. I gave myself bonus pts for the resident not numbing me before doing my stitches. Worst part.
  • Not gonna lie, I'm impressed that such a large percentage braved through an unmedicated birth!

Me too! I never planned for an unmediated birth, but wanted to see how long I could go without the epidural. The answer is two hours (and at 6 cm / 100% effaced). I really feel like you unmediated gals are equal parts heroic and crazy. Pretty amazing ladies!
  • The ONLY reasons I went unmedicated is because little man shot out too fast.  I wanted it, I had them put in an IV of fluids so I could get one.  Idiot epidural man showed up to place it as I started pushing...

  • I was induced so had Iv pitocin, but nothing for pain because it was sooo freaking fast! I voted vag/unmedicated though, cause pit doesn't count IMO

  • epidural and surgery... again. boo.
  • Vaginal birth, no assistance or meds. I definitely think it helped that I had a quick labor!

  • C/s with epidural

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • Induced with Cervadil and pit. Got IV meds followed by epidural. Delivered via c/s. Btw, IV meds did nothing for my initial contractions and back labor was a PITA that was not dulled epi.
  • Mine was practically unmediated. I has the lowest dose of something in my iv for pain, but it did nothing except make the room spin. I felt everything. No forceps or vacuum though.

  • I had that sweet, sweet epidural right before I pushed DS out. The epidural was placed at 9 AM and I think it was out a little after 10 AM. DS was born at 9:40.

  • Vaginal w/epidural, forceps assistance (had meconium and heart rate deceleration, so they wanted her out quicker)

Unmedicated vaginal birth. I didn't want meds, but ended up not having a choice since labor was under 2 hours and I got to the hospital 30 minutes before she was born. I was so sweaty they couldn't even get an IV in.

ETA: I did end up being put out after the birth for 30 minutes with propophol bc dr had to stitch up an internal tear and that would have been too painful without drugs.
  • Wanted an unmedicated vaginal birth, ended up with an epi and I think it was the best choice I could have made. I'm not sure I would have had the energy to push had the epi not allowed me to rest.

  • Wanted an unmedicated vaginal birth and got a vaginal birth with the use of Nitrous for the last 45 min or so before I started pushing. I was ready and wiling to get an epi, but was too late by the time we got to hospital. Since this was my first, I'm gonna have to think about getting to the hospital earlier next time (less than 4 hours from water breaking to birth).

Vaginal, med free, non assisted birth. It was a quick labor so it wasn't as bad but I was ready to get the epidural, couldn't do it due to low BP. Now I'm glad I didn't.

  • I wonder how many of the med free vaginal births asked for the Epi at the end when it was too late? I know I sent my husband to tell the nurse I wanted one only to be checked and be found to be at a 10 and ready to push.
  • Vaginal with an epidural. The plan was no meds, but after 2 hours of labor in the car, I said fuck that.
  • Planned c-section with spinal. Deciding to do a c-section was the best decision I could have made, LO was not ever going to come on his own and his head was so jammed in there that they had to use the vacuum to get him out. C-section for the win!
  • Started out hoping for an unmedicated vaginal, ended up requesting IV meds which did nothing but make me tired while still in extreme pain, so next up it was the epidural. And what would you know, ended up with an emergency c-section and general anesthesia.

  • Vaginal unmedicated. I was planning in having an epidural, but progressed too fast. Doctor said if I have any more kids to come in after my first contraction. Baby wanted out!
  • Vaginal with epidural.

  • Vaginal with an epidural.
  • Wanted to try med free but didn't make it. After about 6 hours I had had it. Wasn't dilating, but once I got the epi, I dilated quickly and dd was born in a few pushes. I can't believe how many of you said you barely made it. My contractions were less than 2 minutes apart for hours yet no dilating so I got sent home 3 times before I demanded they need to keep my butt there.

  • I wanted to do a med free birth but I happened to be up when my water broke and hadn't had any sleep.  I was so tired I needed some relief.  I got an epidural a the very tail end of my labor apparently.  I could still feel my contractions so I got to follow my bodies natural urge to push.  He came really fast.  No tearing at all this time.  I was really happy with my experience.
  • Induced with the intent of holding off on epi. Made it 6 hours of contractions after cervidil to get the epi. Low dose pit after having to stop my contractions. Ended up in a c-secion with spinal 21 hours after the start of the induction.

Got an epidural as planned but the dr turned it off since pushing wasn't progressing much and also gave me pitocin. I was overwhelmed/exhausted and just wanted whatever would get the baby out soonest since her heart rate was dropping in between contractions but he really didn't give me an option. Had her an hour and a half after the epidural went off so not sure how much pain relief I had towards the end. Was def happy to have a few hours of relief though in the middle since the beginning contractions after my water broke were intense. Anyone else have a similar experience? My husband and I have wondered if things would have been different depending on which dr was on call that day.

I SSd because my babe looks like a velociturtle at times.

I had a vaginal delivery. The only meds were an antibiotic as my water had been broken for 12+ hrs.
