Spiritual Encouragement

I have been meaning to start this thread for some time. Motherhood is an exciting, frightening, whirlwind of emotions and episodes. Whether you are a person of faith, non-believer or just need a smile feel free to drop in on the convo and share. I've been a Minister for almost 10 years, but mainly I'm a human being that believes more in the Relationship than religion. :-) Jesus showed the world how to be comfortable in who you are and to not let others define or confine you. We all win, we all lose and we all have to find a way to carry on. Especially now that we have someone on the way who will need us more than we will ever understand. The only rule...no judgement allowed. There are plenty of places in the world where we get that already.

We can post Scriptures, prayer requests or general comments, whatever you like. I need this thread just as much as anybody. Any who enjoy the discussion and feel free to post. God bless!

  • Another pastor here. Thanks for this thread! I've been studying the parable of the mustard seed this week.
  • Such a wonderful thread to start! The Lord gives me comfort when I am scared and anxious over my DS and over my sweet baby in my belly. I look forward to reading your posts!
  • Well Thankful That On The Way Home I Saw The Driver In The Next Lane Checking His GPS Change Into Our Lane, Getting Ready To Hit Us And We Stopped Just In Time. He Then Proceeded To Run The Red Light Ahead Making A Left Turn. Prayed For His Safety As Well. DS And I Were Singing Tasha Cobb Love You Forever The Whole Time. Thank You Jesus
  • @ScienceMama Which denomination are you a part of?

Raised Baptist And Pentecostal, But Live By The Word As Best I Can ;;)
  • What a lovely thread :-)

    Brown Baptist Girl

(Side note... When DH and I had A Serious Conversation about religion while dating -- yes -- capitalized lol --he was so pleasantly surprised to hear I was baptist also and not going to have to convert from something else... I guess the assumption is that I would be catholic.)
  • Anyone wanna do a prayer circle for different MBM boards, starting with the February 2014 board? They've had a few dramatic GBCBs in the past few days, and someone called them bitches. I would like to pray for their cohesiveness as a group and healthy pregnancies. Then one for December because people were saying it has gotten a bit crazy there in the past.

We could just do it here or maybe we could all go and start it on their board.

I visited one of those boards ONCE, and yes...I'll leave it at that. February is my other BMB, it's not been pretty in the last couple days either. That would be much appreciated.
  • Jewish here, and have been relying on prayer heavily to get me through the first trimester. I will post the prayer I have been using most frequently tomorrow. May G-d bless us all with healthy pregnancies and babies.
Ooh are you orthodox? that's my favourite religion!

Well We Pray For peace On Every side For Them In Jesus Name. Sometimes People Lash Out At Others For Other Issues They Can't Address Or Change.
  • @stargirlb conservative, not orthodox, but since my husband was raised orthodox we probably fall a little to the right of the typical conservative jewish family.

So excited for our rainbow baby!
  • @ScienceMama‌ Thank you for starting this thread. Since the title used the word "spiritual" I assume it is intended to be inclusive, even though I, as a Jew, do not pray "in Jesus' name"?

Not the OP, and not to sound all Universalist or anything, but I think believing you're not the biggest thing in your own universe isn't a bad thing at all. You pray to whomever you want!

Love this thread!!!! I pray for wonderful and healthy babies for you all! May The Lord shower you all with blessings. >:D<
  • My Mom Actually Raised Me Mishboca/ mishpocha Studying Many Jewish Teachings As Well. I Was Always To Respect Other People's cultures As Well As Their Faiths. So Living By Gods Teachings And Not The Religious Ideals Seems More Logical To Me. :-) But Again Everyone Is Welcome!
  • Just wanted to say I love this idea and hope to see this succeed!
  • Here is a scripture for those of us who haven't "officially" come out about our bundles of joy.
I'm waiting another month until I know the sex, its always the next question and people look at you funny if you dont know. Plus I need to finish my Maternity leave plan.

This is the account of how Mary had to keep the Good News to herself when the Angel told her:
Luke 2:19 Mary kept all these things to herself, holding them dear, deep within herself.

Hopefully this encourages us to keep up the brave face for a few more weeks. Or until we get outted by the one co-worker we told
    :D Be blessed!
  • I'd like to say a prayer for everyone on the Parenting Board, since that's where I've spent a bulk of my evening. May the lord be in the hearts and minds of you all while you share your FFCs and UOs. And to the child of god doing the recap thread over there... it's amazing to see how the lord is able to bring every person in the group to a place and outlet that will allow them to fulfill their role and function if they allow Him in. Peace and Love, sisters. <3
  • I'm not quite sure what I believe in but am open to listening to what others believe in/think. I have found this thread to be peaceful so will continue to check on it.
Welcome! Believe what feels right in your heart :x
That sounded cheesy but ehh, whacha gonna do!
  • Psalm 20:4-5 "May he give you the desire of your heart, and may all your plans succeed. May we shout for joy at your victory and lift our banners in the name of our God. May the Lord grant all of your requests."

This is what helped me through TTC my rainbow baby!!!

    Psalm 37:4 :)
  • Does anyone know of a good verse to go with my prayer for the Parenting board?

The fact that you care enough to pray for them goes a long way as well. We will pray for peace on their board too. :-) Maybe this may help

    Philippians 4:5-9

5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

    Meditate on These Things

8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

This quote from Jeremiah 29:11 really helped my friend get through HG and struggling with infertility:

Here is the Jewish prayer that I mentioned, which is good for during pregnancy.  There's also one listed for our significant others to say, which is great because I know sometimes they can feel very helpless in this situation.

  • @aditigirl lets not be hasty. @stargirlb is doing the right thing by having compassion for another person. Lets all take a minute to think of something nice or compassionate someone did for us this past week and be grateful we were even on their mind.

In todays world its so easy to say "you're on your own with that one" but when we step out of our world and into someone else's that is where the good stuff happens.
  • Bible stories for kids!
So I am going to make an investment in this set of books. I had them when I was growing up and we got them from the Catholic Church up the road from where we lived. I went back a few years ago, being all nostalgic and they stopped selling them. But I found them online. The books are really short, well illustrated and are a great way to learn Bible stories. I think you can by them individually but they way I've been forced to read "Mr. Brown can moo, how about you" every night for the past month I need the diversity around here.

    Enjoy!
  • Those books look great!  I need to figure out if I can order them individually so I can get the Old Testament ones.  Thanks for sharing!
