Beer & Diaper party thank you's

My husband had a beer & diaper party yesterday and everyone had a blast. I brought up writing thank you notes today and he feels like it is unnecessary-that guys couldn't care less about a note. I think it's nice to show our appreciation for everyone who attended, whether they brought diapers or not. Some guys (probably their wive's doing) had some wipes/onesies to give us too. I would write the notes thus alleviating any guy-getting-a-thank-you-note-from-a-guy weirdness. I thought I'd ask if anyone thought writing thank you's was overkill?

Well, no ones going to get mad at you for thanking them. I say send them. It'll be a nice gesture.

They brought a gift, a thank you note is always appropriate.

I would send them. Wives of those men are more likely to take offense if no thank you card is received. They are probably the ones that picked up the diapers for their husbands.

So much fun. DH might be having a Pamper/Poker party with his guys. They are a small, mostly single group so I will just be sending thank you texts but thank you notes never hurt anyone.

Thank you cards are always appropriate. Sign them from both of you if that's less awkward.

Agree with PPs, but having not heard of this either, please elaborate. Men bring daddy-to-be beer and diapers? Or beer is provided if diapers are brought? And then what?

I definitely agree with you that thank you notes are appropriate. Diaper donations are gifts to help you prepare for baby's arrival, so you'd definitely be doing the right thing by sending a thank you note to all who attended and/or brought gifts. You can also say things like "thank you for coming; we had a blast" or "thank you for coming to celebrate baby's impending arrival." And I agree; the husbands probably won't care about a note, but wives tend to notice.

DH had one for our first baby, and it was awesome! We honestly did not buy diapers for the first year!

Anyways , I am a huge thank you note writer, but I (or DH) did not write them to the guys who came. I know DH thanked the guys at the party, and since I knew almost all the wives, I made a point to say thank you to them in person or text.

That sounds like fun! I would definitely write a thank-you note (signed from you and your DH) to those who brought diapers/gifts.

I concur with all the "write thank you's" comments. It's better to err on the side of manners.

Honestly, though, I'm beginning to wonder if I'm the only person who doesn't expect or enjoy thank you notes? I mean, I think it's nice that the person took the time to write them, but I'm not offended if they don't. Truthfully it is just going to end up in my junk mail pile and eventually the trash. Seems kind of a waste.
