DH wants to give DD a blanket. She sleeps like a fish out of water so I think it would only be a disruption. Lets hear what others are doing.

  • E has his pillow, a cover up blanket, and his love "snuggle" blanket. And a pack. Sometimes he had two or three snuggle blankets. :)

  • Nothing but only because DD hates blankets. Not because I wouldn't let her have one if she actually wanted it :-)

  • He has an open weave blanket in his crib. He is a wild sleeper, but I give it to him because I can't sleep without blankets so maybe he is the same way and just doesn't know it yet lol. He has his lovie in there with him too.

We don't use a blanket, only because I don't see the need.  Our house is either so warm that I wouldn't want him to have one anyways, or warm enough that he doesn't really need one.  He sleeps fine so no need to fix what ain't broke.

ETA: He sleeps in either long sleeved footie pajamas (sleep and play), or a one-piece romper if it is warmer.

  • We still use a sleep sack and she really needs it to fall asleep.  I have also let her have a little taggie blanket since she was pretty small, which she now loves.  More recently, she sleeps with cloth books (which she "reads" if she doesn't go to sleep immediately), and random stuffed animals.  And a couple times I have given her a small blanket if she seems cold.  Usually she objects strenuously to blankets so if she keeps it on, I figure she needs it, although she usually flips around a lot and it probably wouldn't stay on long even if she wanted it to.

Why does he want her to have it? DS sleeps with a little lovey blanket and pacifiers. For warmth, he's in a sleep sack. But no pillow or blanket. He's still all over the crib all night so a blanket seems pointless.

Because he thinks she needs to get used to it and grow into it so she should start learning now.

  • Logan has 6 stuffed animals. He keeps adding to the collection. He holds them all until he falls asleep, then lays on top of 1 or 2 of them.
  • We do a sleep sack and a blanket at nap time. The blanket at nap time lasts all of 5 minutes because she moves so much, it's more just her signal that it's time to sleep. The sleep sack is necessary at night becAuse we keep it much cooler.

  • DS doesn't like blankets when he's sleeping on his own. Once I go to bed, he only has a blanket up to his waist while he nurses, and then wants nothing to do with it once he rolls over to go back to sleep.

  • DD cries hysterically when I put a blanket in her crib. I don't know what she thinks it's going to do to her, but it's clearly not worth the aggravation. I figure that someday if she wants one, she can certainly have one. Until then I don't really care. Like others have said, she moves around a lot anyway so it would probably be pointless.

  • She has multiple blankets.  We tried pillows but they just made her roll into the side of the crib and wake-up.

I voted SS though, because she's only in her crib for the first three hours of the night.  Once I go to bed she ends up in bed with me and usually sleeps on my pillow and under my blanket.  Actually she's usually on top of my head  (:|

  • No blankets or pillows. She moves around too much to bother with either and sleeps fine without them. Plus, she gets sweaty when she sleeps, so in the summer it's just pjs. When it gets cold, we'll go back to the sleep sack since it'll actually stay on. ;-)

  • She sleeps with a lovie. It a a small silk pillowcase. During the winter she has a blanket.

Both kids have a blankie (Taggies brand), larger blanket for warmth if needed (DD snuggles with this one instead of her Taggies one), and pillow.

Most of the time they just snuggle the blanket or crumple it up and sleep on top of it. They both roll around in the crib throughout the night, but when they want the blanket, they do find it and wrap themselves in it. Apparently it's cooler than I thought in their nursery tonight because I just went to check on them and they've both wrapped themselves in their blanket. :x

Whether they sleep on the pillow is hit or miss. DS sleeps with his head on the pillow about half the time. DD never used to use it, but several days ago I showed her how I sleep with my head on my pillow, and now the last few times I've gone in there while she's asleep, she has her head on her pillow too. :)

  • she has 1-2 blankets, 1-2 stuffed animals, including a large stuffed turtle that she'll use for a pillow sometimes. She also has a board book as she will wake up and "read" quietly for a while in the mornings. She is a "blankie girl"- she needs to cuddle with one to fall asleep.

  • Our crib is still bare. Another one who's still all over the crib.  I'm assuming when he we move him into a toddler bed that will be his first run in with blankets and pillows.  :-/

  • We started using a blanket to cover him a few months ago. At first he let us but now he just wants to use it as a pillow. I bought him a pillow that stays in his crib but, he doesn't use it. He understands to concept of a pillow and blanket and will use them appropriately when he's awake. I'm a little worried about what I'm going to do in the winter.
  • Your post inspired me to give DS a blanket this evening. He giggled when I laid it on him.

I think PP's dh had a good point about helping them get used to it so they don't reject it later.  I used to always have to sneak one on dd once she fell asleep.

  • This has been a good and funny read. Thanks ladies

Just for shits and giggles I put a blanket on dd last night. She thought it was funny. Then she rolled over and it became another lovie. I think it will be gone tonight because she doesn't need another lovie. I think we'll wait for the big girl bed.

  • Halo sleep sacks are where it's at.

We are so thankful that our second daughter, Lillian Elizabeth "Lily", was born healthy and happy on February 11, 2013.  We love her to pieces.

We lost our first daughter, Hannah Grace on May 4, 2011.  She was buried on May 14 during a beautiful service at my home church. We are grateful that if she could not be here with us, that she is healed and whole with the Lord. We look forward to the day when we will get to meet her. We love her so much.

  • I don't think I would worry about anyone rejecting it later.  I have good money that says there is no 16 year old around who when cold says "nooooooo, can't use that!!!!!!! get it away from meeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" about a blanket.  They figure it out when they need to IMO :)
