A Harry potter question (spoilers)

Sorry, MBK!

I just started the amazon unlimited and of course the first book I open is Harry potter.

Why have I never wondered who cared for Harry that day? His parents died at night and he's brought to the Dursley's the next night, late enough that everyone is asleep. That's 24 hours.

Plus they left Harry on the doorstep. At night. In November. He wasn't even 18 months. How did they think THAT was an okay plan?

Edit: forgot my question

Does any book state who cared for him for that 24 hour period?

Edit: to change title

Re: A Harry potter question (spoilers)

  • I assumed Hagrid had him for the day as he said he got him out of the rubble before muggles got there, so it must have been pretty soon after the attack the night before. I know Dumbledore and McGonagall didn't stay to watch him as it says they left. He had blankets so I guess they bundled him pretty well. Luckily, Harry slept the whole time. He was 15 months old so he totally could have escaped. Lol that would have made for a pretty short story though.

I think it's a combination of Hagrid getting him earlier than it's explicitly stated and the spoiler that had been previously mentioned.

And if it doesn't all add up, then I just chalk it up to one of those things that requires you to use your suspension of disbelief.

  • Thanks all! I'd forgotten about the other person who was there and I know that she needed that day to set up who the Dursley's were, but that day seemed to jump out at me this time. I mean, 15 month olds need a lot of care and are busy and I'm sure after a scare and bad sleep and being in a strange place with people he doesn't know well... He was likely a handful.

  • @Bookworm: I think the only place you can get the books electronically is on the Pottermore website. I don't want you to get Amazon Unlimited and then be disappointed if you can't read HP books from there. I may be wrong tho.

Don't read the timeline unles you've finished EVERY book. The only problem with that timeline (in the timeframe we are discussing) is that it doesn't have the person I was talking about at the scene after the Potters are killed. It was made very clear at the end of that person's collected memory after death. Seeing said person sob at the one body was very emotional.
I know who you're talking about, and that link really glosses over their part in all things that are involved in that day.
That wasn't in the books, though. That was only in the movie. eta: That the person went to the house. Obviously the person was involved in other ways.

If you own a kindle and have amazon prime, you can read them for free (even without Unlimited). Just use the Kindle Owner's Lending Library.
