My mom was due with me 3/2 but I was born 3/19 (which was the day before a big holiday in Judaism, Purim... where you dress up etc... all my birthday parties were costume parties. It's tied to my identity now!)

I'm not Jewish, but have a few friends and an ex who are... And I know that you never turn down an invitation to join in on Purim festivities.

As long as you don't have ridiculously high expectations I'm sure it'll go over just fine. 99% of the time there's only drama during wedding planning where the brides wants to see drama.
I think I was mostly laid back. I blame My stepmom for the drama there was. She refused to come to the tasting at the caterers because "we don't socialize with them." Them being my mom and stepdad. And she and my sister skipped my rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. And then she let my sister skip the family function the night before the wedding and getting ready with the bridesmaids for a sleepover. She was almost late for pictures because of it. Ugh.

@bspazzer‌ meh, I never understood brides not allowing others to wear a certain type of dress. That's pretty bridezilla to me. If anyone told me to cover my shoulders on their wedding day I would've rolled my eyes so damn hard. No ones going to confuse the bride with anyone else, what's the point? Show up comfortable is all I told my friends and family.

Bridezilla... You better fucking believe it. Neither family helped us plan or pay for our wedding and since she was part of the WEDDING PARTY along with being a main guest she was given suggestions which IS standard wedding etiquette. I could have very easily had no mothers or grandmother walk down the isle but I decided to include them in the ceremony and yes I did fucking stand out my dress was covered in sequins and I looked damn good but the point is that she was asked not told and still decided to do what she wanted. Had she or anyone else helped to pay for our wedding they could have more of a say.

    MY WEDDING MY RULES.

Uhhhhh... With how I've interacted with you up until this point, I never would have expected this sort of klassy crazy to fly out of your mouth. I have a totally different opinion of you right now.

No one but the bride and groom should ever be expected to pay for a wedding.

  • Today is 9 months since Noah was stillborn at 20w. I'm having a hard time today. It baffles me that we have lived twice as long without him as with him.

My oldest just told me "babies die." I keep trying to explain to him that not all babies die, but that's his experiance. I hate that it's all he knows.

They didn't pay for it, so they are your guests. Did you tell your other guests what they were allowed to wear too? And I don't think you get to call it giving her suggestions if you flipped out that she didn't follow them and made her pin a shawl to her dress.

No my guest did not have a dress code... Wait you know what. I've been spilling too much haterade today and I'm going to go ahead an take a pass on this little bump in the road and give you a little bow. Your panties are clearly on a little too tight this fine evening and I'm not in the mood to argue with you about MY wedding.

We also did JOP and said a party in five years which is this January, oops. We didn't even do wedding rings so I'm hoping that forces us to get our act together eventually.

  • @jessuhmarie‌ welp looks like it's time to start in on me now...

Sorry my views on my wedding aren't shared with everyone (honest to god no sarcasm) I was trying to relate to another member about MIL issues not trying to open discussion on my wedding just generally trying to "bond" (probably not the right word) I'm usually non confrontational but I also try to be very non judge mental at the same time.
  • bspazzer said:
My mom is alright. She means well, for sure- and she will follow my rules. On the other hand, my MIL would rather tell DD what a terrible person I am and try to get DD to call her Mommy. (her nickname with DD is Mema).

No joke, her comment on DH& I's wedding day (I was pregnant with DD) was "at least my son didn't hit it & quit it". On Facebook. Thanks! Love you too!
    image
Bahahaha what an awful bitch! My mother stormed out of my wedding and my MIL was told no strapless since my dress was strapless... So what does she get? A strapless dress. Best be damn sure I told the woman to safety pin her shaw to her dress and cover them shoulders! I also had warning from my SIL about what she would wear to one of her sons weddings..... But she wouldn't ever go that low.... That's really really dirty.
Me and DH had only been together a little over a years when DS was born. I had just been wheeled into the room after the c-section, I'm on morphine and MIL says I just want ya'll to know that I think ya'll are sinners and I'm praying for you. My mother went BSC. Considering MIL was only 17 when she got pregnant with DH my mother really didn't think she had room to talk and made it clear that I was 23, out of school, and my sex life was none of hers or anyone else's business. I love my mom I was too drugged to respond. Now a days she thinks I'm a horrible person because I used birth control between DS and DD and that I plan on this one being my last. She says I should stay at home, take care of the house and kids and have as many as I can. Blah she's gonna flip when I go back to school in the fall to start my psych degree.

Oh, plus I'm getting tired of all the intros. I mean I'm happy to have the new girls and we were all new once but if I have to say welcome and congrats one more time I may die. I think I'm grumpy today, may go back to bed now that I've eaten my blueberry waffles.

I like seeing intros from posters that I recognize from other boards, but those are few and far between. This is going to sound bad but if you're posting here for the first time I don't care about your intro. Most of them give very little information anyway, it's better to just jump in and start posting. Thats the best way to get to know people.
And this is why some gals post prior to BFPs. Just saying.

Congrats to all you ladies! I hope to join April15.

Why does this make people post prior to a bfp? Why not just jump into posting after you POAS? I didn't do an intro post, but I feel fairly comfortable in saying I think people recognize me around here. I participate in lots of posts.
