fetus measuring small at 26 weeks

Hi all,Just had a check up the OB says it looks like I am measuring about 23-24 weeks but I am just over 26. I am only 5 ft tall and pre peg weight of 105 ( I have gained 7lbs so far). At my 20 week scan, everything measured fine and baby was in the 68% for growth. This makes me even more concerned as it looks like her growth has slowed? The doc said she is not worried and feels it is due to my small frame but I am having an US on Monday. Has anyone had a smiliar experience? Baby is very active and great heartbeat. Thanks ladies!

  • If your doctor isn't concerned, I don't think you should be concerned, either. The 68th percentile means that your baby is growing faster than 68% of babies out there (which is above average), so don't stress about it, especially if you have an active baby with a healthy heartbeat. I hope that helps!

  • Thanks for your reply! Our peanut was in the 68 % at 20 week scan, which I had at 18 weeks. However now at 26 she is measuring small.. (Well fundus measuring small is but I know she is sitting very low... not sure if that matters). I am a transfer from another doc ( we just moved) and he never measured my fundus so maybe it is a combination. First time mom and worrier by nature so I over think everything. Thank you again! After doing some research online this looks to be relatively normal.
  • I am sure everything is fine! If your doctor isn't worried, I wouldn't be worried. She's probably just going to be petite like her mama!

  • You can't really compare the size on ultrasound to fundal height. What was your Fundal height at the time of your ultrasound?

  • I haven't had the U/S yet. I go on Monday. I am just curious since my FH has never been measured. Maybe I have been small the entire time but baby is normal size? I just think it is strange the first time it was ever measured was at 26 weeks. I guess I have nothing to compare it too :/
  • I am 22 weeks and they have yet to measure mine too. I thought I remembered them measuring earlier last time.
  • Thanks again for all the support. To update readers who may come across this thread in the future.. The U/S came back great. Baby measuring slightly bigger then average even! Like everyone is saying, I don't think the fundal hight very accurate.

This.  Comparing a measurement to the ultra sound to the fundal measurement is kind of apples and oranges.  It's like weighing yourself on different scales, there are going to be discrepencies.  I wouldn't worry about it.  My fundal height measurements were consistently small with DS - he was born at 6 lbs, 3 oz, on the smaller side, but still within the normal range for a healthy baby.

Oh - just saw that everything looked good on the ultra sound.  Congrats.  I agree that fundal height is not very accurrate, and even ultra sounds aren't that accurrate for weight/height/dating as you get further along.
