So I am a mystery to my doctor...HELP?!

So, my last period date and how far along my HCG numbers are baffling my doctor. After my last period I was not a very good girl as far as taking my birth control correctly, I missed so many days I gave up. Then I never started... I have had urine and blood tests confirming that I am pregnant. They ruled out my body aborting mission baby because my numbers are rising. But my numbers say 3-4 weeks pregnant and my last period date suggests I should be more like 7-8 weeks. Anyone have any ideas on the mystery we call my body?

You ovulated late. Your dr really couldn't figure that one out? Not everyone ovulates on CD14, especially if you're taking BC sporadically.

I'm certainly no expert but it just sounds like you ovulated late. Dating a pregnancy based on your last period assumes you ovulate on day 14. Since your BC use was sporatic then stopped, you could have easily ovulated a few weeks later than day 14.

It doesn't seem like too much of a mystery to me so I might be missing something that the other girls can help with but hope this makes sense.

I'm in the same boat. I am very irregular but was tracking so I knew when I ovulated. Definitely can't rely on LMP.

I am in a similar situation... My LMP puts me at 8 weeks when I am only 5 weeks 4 days. I know I ovulated late this month. That's probably what happened to you. Your doc sounds like he doesn't understand how menstrual cycles work...

I have never been regular and have never dated a pregnancy (this is my 3rd) based on LAP and and ways on ultrasounds. You probably just ovulated late because of your crazy BC issues.

This shouldn't be too baffling to your doctor, unless there's something I'm missing! EDDs change all the time since the majority of women don't ovulate exactly two weeks after LMP.

This. I went off bc mid cycle and my cycle started completely over a week later. If I were you I would probably find a new doctor. This should not be a mystery to a doctor...
