I was just reading an article about amniotic fluid (wtf?) that talked about babies that are born "in caul" and had to google it.. OMG WTF.. awesome and nauseating all at once. I'm not going to explain, either. You can look it up if you're as easily morbidly intrigued as I am.
Just a random shoutout to @skeemer for being awesome (your last post to pixie was so sweet and supportive). I just didn't want to take away from that thread to tell you.
Do I need to clarify that I'm not hitting on you
I totally feel the love! Did you just touch my butt?! LOL.
For real though - Awww, that's so sweet & encouraging. I just feel so much compassion for her & I want to literally hug on her. Thanks for the shout out. It made my day!
Also, this is my first visit ever to the random thread. See what you've done now?
@aliletz I found myself on that google search one day as well. I agree, fascinating but very graphic. Definitely is not what I would have pictured based on what they show for water breaking in the movies.

My friend's friend gave birth to her daughter this way recently and it ended up being a really good thing as she was GBS+ and they didn't have time to get her the antibiotics. The caul protected the baby. Isn't that cool?!

So bummed. Had my follow up w/IBCLC & after all the domperidone & fenugreek & extra pumping, my output only increased by 2 ml. So while we can continue to nurse for comfort we have to formula feed.
I know it's nbd, I just really wanted it to work out. :-/
hugs to you - emotionally, it is a big deal, and it's ok to be bummed. just try to concentrate on the fact that LO is thriving and happy
SO's mom called him today offering him a bunch of old pictures she sorted out for him because she noticed he never participates in Throw Back Thursday on Facebook.... ummmm WTH?!?
He told thanks but no thanks, I'm pretty sure she's still pouting about it because she's gone back through his sister's newsfeed and commented on the ones she's posted about how wonderful it is that she is "proud of her memories."
First: I am SO happy to announce that little man is FINALLY latching and bfing well... While my supply issues still have me supplementing, We are finally making progress!
Second: I attribute the above mentioned success wholely to the "My Brest Friend" nursing pillow I bought last week. It has made a WORLD of difference in comfort and simplicity for both me and LO.

Sad face! I have production issues too and I know how frustrating it is to have to supplement! Hang in there and keep trying it all... I'm on fenugreek capsules, mothers milk tea and eating lactation cookies. This momma thing is so not what I thought or imagined it would be!
@ichamommy - the my breast friend pillow is the greatest invention of all time. Boppy pillows are simply for sitting/propping babies up IMO! I wore mine around ALL DAY sometimes

Haha! Everytime I stand up with it still strapped on, it makes me feel like a very awkward ballerina with a tutu! But I love the damn thing!
So I spent an hour Wednesday morning registering at the hospital for csection for next week. Unbeknownst to me my water had broken. All day I kept thinking I peed my pants until mister points out I actually soaked the seat of the car. On our way out for dinner. we went out to dinner. Came home and decided to call doc. Came in, and sure enough my water had broken.
I've now been in hospital for 24 hours and am only dilated to about 3cm. They gave me epi at around 12:30 today, bc of pitocin. *flail*
Yup, i cant sleep. In 2 1/2 hrs im supposed to be up to leave for the hospital for my c section! I can't believe I'll be holding my LO soon! I'm too excited to sleep any longer.. hurry up clock!

It is! Nature is amazing
I'm reading The Shining by Stephen King and Danny (the son) was born with a caul and that's the omen in the entire book that something was special about him.

@ghostof5letters - DH has read ALL the King books - i just got him the follow up When the kid is older. He said it wasn't nearly as good, but a decent "sequel" none the less.
My hospital just cashed our check from our birthing classes from MAY! I sent them that check in April.. totally my fault for not paying attention but now our account is screwed up!! UGH

That's why I hate checks! When someone takes their good ol' time depositing one, it screws up my ledger. I always have to remind myself that I have $X less than my account shoes because of something from two months ago. Frustrating!
I am just in shock because I would have never expected a hospital to wait this long! It is incredibly annoying.. I hate writing checks too, you just can't rely on people to cash them lol.
How rude!! You had me panicking for a minute because I figured they had changed mine back too and I kind of liked having my full name off TB.
I went and changed it again. I have a sneaking suspicion that TB app had something to do with it. Like how they sneakily try to change your avatar photo.
How do you actually change it? I emailed them like months ago because I wanted my name off of it, but no change :-?
I'm still disappointed by your name change. I honestly just started remembering the numbers in your SN and I had it down packed! If I ever needed to tag you, I could do it with ease. Then you go and change it on me -_-

Good luck Super T, I hope you have a safe delivery!
Glad you had a good meal prior to your long labor. Update when you get the chance.
Best wishes @SuperTinkerham
DH had a family member tragically pass this week and the funeral is tomorrow on my EDD, 6 hours away (if traffic behaves). I have gotten much more uncomfortable the past couple days physically, but there is no serious indication that LO will be making an appearance. Guess I'm just posting this to vent a little. I'm nervous about the slim chance he could miss the birth, but my parents and 3 sisters will be here so at least there's that.
Sounds stressful! Sorry about the loss and hoping your DH can attend the funeral and get back before LO comes.
Ok, I'm over reading the birth stories, mostly because they're mostly people I've never heard of before. From here on out, I'm only reading the stories from the ladies who post over here since those are the ones I'm looking forward to seeing anyways.
So I ordered several nursing tops online the other day because I realized most of my wardrobe wasn't breast feeding friendly. Well they're supposed to come in today. I feel like a kid at Christmas waiting . So excited to get packages in the mail!! Lol
I've been trying to practice how I would NIP and it's become a horrible fail so far. I can't figure out how to do it without completely flashing the world (something I'm just not comfortable with doing.) I can't seem to manage the cover plus have both hands free to get myself situated and her latched. I'm wondering if I need a new cover or if I'm just going to have to work out pumping and bringing a bottle along.
My dad helped me with some chores around the house this morning, my BFF just came and visited me on her lunch break and my ILs are bringing over dinner tonight. Tomorrow is DH's last day of work before he goes on his vacation for the baby. I am just totally happy right now and had to AW. The only damper on my day has been my toddler referring to me as "big mama"...not cool DS, not cool.

Same! I practiced NIP at home one day by nursing in the family room with my brother around. Yeah, that shizz didn't last long. The cover I have doesn't have the neck frame opening thing so that was impossible to get started without feeling like I was smothering DS with a sheet. Difficulties on top of difficulties and finally I just walked my happy "Brest friend pillow" wearing tutu'd ass back to the nursery and haven't looked back at the cover since. Damn it's gonna be a hard one to accomplish.

Yeah, having the kind with the ring/loop/thing that sticks out so you can look down is key to making the cover work.
@ichamommy That's exactly what happened to me at a friends house (ended up in the spare bedroom). Maybe I need one of the covers you mentioned with the gap.....or maybe I will never leave my house for my maternity leave.....

This is one of the hardest things for me too! DH holds the metal neckline piece up so I can see and redirect with each relatch.
I swear nursing in public gets way easier when babies learn to latch correctly themselves. I can't remember how old DS was when he did this, but basically it only took the amount of time to pull the shirt down and he was on. When he needed more help I did like my baby au lait cover because it had the wire to hold it out.
Yep...everything about BFing gets easier when they're a little older than our babes are now. And when you're a FTM, there is a BIG learning curve.

You're forgiven
You guys that shit is so fucking weird.
Lol.
I am now laying down with a pad on trying to figure out if it was my water or not.
