I don't drink bottled water or water out of plastic in general for multiple reasons, but unless you plan on living in a bubble, you encounter things every single day that could potentially harm you and the baby. Little amounts of these things are realistically not going to cause any harm. Just like drinking a little coffee isn't going to harm anything, or eating seafood, deli meat and even drinking a glass of wine once in a while. Our society today has done a great job of scaring people into believing way too many things.
1) I love the taste of my lead and fluoride laced tap water
2) Coca Cola is delish
3) is this where we talk about saving the planet one cloth diaper at a time?

@BankerBSN What a cynical heart you have! To be fair, disposable diapers really are HORRIBLE for the earth. Each child creates half a ton of disposable diapers per year that go into a land fill. A single disposable diaper takes upwards of 250 years to decompose. So yeah, one cloth diaper is a step toward saving the planet!!!
What about reusing disposables? Like, let the pee dry and reapply? Is that acceptable?
ETA : I was serious about loving tap water and coke. Chicago has the best tasting water and Mexico has the best coca cola.

Haha pee is sterile so I guess you could hang the disposables on a line outside, I don't know if they'd be as re-absorbent the second time around though.

I am ONLY replying to this because SOMEONE will inevitably consider it:
Do NOT reuse your disposables!! Urine is only sterile for a few minutes, then bacteria grows quickly in it.
PSA over.

See, this is exactly why I've trained my kid to go outside. No water, no diapers, no laundry detergent or anything was wasted. Beat that.
@gradschoolmom1234, they totally moved our cheese on that whole "urine is sterile" thing! I heard these study findings reported on NPR a few weeks ago.
Yeah, I never really bought this. I mean, assuming you really thought it was sterile, then you should be perfectly ok with someone walking up and peeing on you. Because technically it would be the same as someone pouring rubbing alcohol on you. Um, no.
I sort of love the turn this whole thread took. This is now as weird as the family shared cloth talk we had not long ago on J12

Well...I...
It isn't because urine was or wasn't sterile that I didn't relish the idea of a golden shower, it's just because it's...I don't know...someone pissing on you. And that's gross.
All of the above: I hate businesses. I hate that people are to lazy and self-centered to do things that are good for the earth. I hate that they put salt in frickin water. And finally, I hate it that "saving the earth" is viewed as a bad thing.
Fine!!! Go hug a tree. Don't work for a business bc you are helping them. I'm sure you also harshly judge moms for vaccinating and bottle feeding as well. People don't agree with your hair fire so that's fine. Move along. There is no reason to keep harshly judging people bc of one specific issue that bothers you or in your case changing issues three times over the course of one thread. I also think you just came on here to stir the pot bc you are bored or something.
Maybe my analogy was a little much, lol. Just to be clear, I do not partake in the golden shower nor do I encourage the act of doing so. At the end of the day, piss is piss is piss.
I just wanted to say that salts are electrolytes. And electrolytes are what your body craves. I don't drink water, I only drink Brawndo. It's the thirst mutilator.
I'm late to the party b/c I figured she was going to tell us about a sale...
Nevertheless, OP gets my official scientist head slap of the day.
This seriously has me cracking up. Makes me want to shop. Not for water. We're all stocked up from a sale over the weekend. Loft had 50% off yesterday. It was great.

After catching up the only thing that is important about this thread is that Mexican Coke is THE.BEST.
