HCG levels went down @ 9 weeks!

Hello everyone,
This is my first time posting on here and I am really worried. I had my first appointment on Monday which included a transvaginal ultrasound and everything looked great with a HB of 166 BPM :) while I was there I also had some blood work done. After the appointment they asked that i come back in 2 days to make sure my HCG levels are going up. Today they called to tell me that my levels have dropped they went from a 94597 to a 93325 and that I will need to come back in next Wednesday for another ultrasound and bloodwork to make sure everything is ok..... I am so scared! This is my second pregnancy and we are really excited. I just told everyone and I pray I am not losing him or her. :(
Please let me know if any of you have had anything similar happen? If so what was the outcome!
Thanks in advance!

  • I'm surprised your Dr. ordered an HCG after a perfect U/S and detecting the heartbeat. I'll be praying for you and sending positive thoughts. 166 is a strong heartbeat so I would try and stay positive. Keep us updated.
  • Thoughts with you lady-- I was under the impression that after a while HCG levels do drop (especially toward the end of 1st Tri) when the placenta starts to take over.... Either way I'm thinking all good thoughts for you.

  • T&P for a healthy baby!! Try to stay calm, everything is probably fine. HCG does drop after a while.

Actually, yeah - I just did a lot of googling and found the same thing. I wonder why your office is testing that so late? I always thought it was a very, very early first tri test. I could be wrong, but that was my impression.

  • Your hcg levels drop at this point don't worry I'm sure there's nothing to worry about., you doctors probably just being careful..!
  • I wouldn't be too worried about your HCG levels. my doctor says they can fluctuate. As long as your not having any other issues you should be fine.

  • Thank you everyone for all of your positive thoughts and kind words
  • Just focus on the fact that baby has a heartbeat and everything looks ok. Don't worry too much about the blood work just yet. Doc prob shouldn't have ordered that test cause it's just adding stress for you, but I hope all is well and you can put that behind you soon. Good luck!

I fourth this. My Dr. said HCG peaks around 10 wks. I would not be super concerned if I was you. Your numbers are in the appropriate range and you had a strong HB and developmentally on track u/s. Try to relax. Good luck
