Has anyone turned their living/dining room into a playroom? If so, do you have any tips or pictures? I'm trying to figure out how to organize my daughter's toys so its more functional for her and us. TIA
Honestly my sons toys are in the living room because he wont go into the playroom unless i sit there with him. I use the bottom half of a bookshelf, and lots of baskets around the room to disguise toys.
My neighbor did - her dining room. She put a bunch of low bookshelves along the walls with baskets ans bins to contain the mess. She had a small table with chairs in the middle towards one end for crafts, tea parties. Train table in the middle towards the other end. Bean bag with a basket of books in one corner, princess tent with all the stuffed toys in another corner. Nothing elaborate, but kids had lots of fun there.
Maybe you could find an old hutch or something, and place all the toys in there. We converted an office into a playroom, but it has a small closet we use for her toys, plus a cedar chest for all her stuffed animals.
We have a sun room that is a play room but at my other house we had an ottoman that opened and we used that as a you box along with baskets on lower shelves...
I did!!! We have a two story *Traditional* home....so I have a formal living room, family room, formal dining room and eat in kitchen....basically a bunch of wasted space. We turned the 'formal living room' into a playroom/tv room for the kids. I painted it a nice blue color. I have a tv in there on a stand, a table for the kids to do...whatever...on and in the closet adjacent to the room I have all the games and the fabric bins from target with toys. so it's pretty open in there for them to use floor space but geared to them so I don't have to walk over toys to use the couch or make sure it's cleaned all the time. By no means are they allowed to leave it a mess but if a few toys or coloring books are left out...its ok. We have a computer in there for them too....here are some pics I still plan on doing thanks to pinterest. It's kind of a work in progress as I get a few extra dollars or find things at garage sales I can use...
the one with all the cubbies is what I wanted to do till I put in the table with computer plus the couch and tv. The room isn't THAT big for all of it...but the fabric bins I use would be the ones that go in those cubbies. I just put them in the closet instead.
