3rd Trimester Clothing Issues...

Anyone else having issues with clothes now that we're all nearing/are in the 3rd trimester? I have a few pairs of maternity shorts and those are feeling too tight now and the panel won't stay over my belly it just rolls down. I also had saved a few dresses and tank tops that had a flowy bottom but my boobs have grown so much that I can't fit into any of them!

I'm getting fed up with trying to get dressed! I went ahead and bought some cheap cotton shorts that were larger than I would normally buy that had a drawstring on it just so I could feel slightly comfortable at home!

I think I may be vetoing clothes in the near future.

Oh and the one maternity dress I have that someone gave me looks so unflattering on me and my growing love handles. What on earth will I even wear to my maternity photos next month? Oiy!

  • @Saragoeswest‌ yes. That's happening. DH is embarrassed for me.

I went on a maternity haul at 5 weeks...and everything I bought was massive on me until recently. It may work for third tri. Meanwhile, I've been buying as I go. I have about 7 shirts. Total.

I don't wear maternity bottoms. For now, my bellyband is doing the trick with my normal jeans.

My $60 Victoria's Secret bras don't fit anymore (effing waste!) and I'm boycotting buying new bras. May just buy some walmart cheap ones and some nursing bras since my boobs are unpredictably changing.

  • @DaniGrace89‌ I'm so jealous of you that your bellyband works! I haven't worn normal bottoms since about 15 weeks. Crazy thing is I've only gained weight in my boobs/belly and a little extra with my love handles, but none of my bottoms would work around my hips. Naked time sounds promising.

  • The biggest problem I have is that I have a long torso and all my shirts are too short and everything I try on in bigger sizes is the same way. The worst part is my bump is really small and things are too short I can't imagine what the problem will be like if I get as big as I did with DS. I had him in early May so I just wore a lot of hoodies because they were the only thing long enough.

  • I basically live in the same few outfits... all of the normal size sundresses that were working to this point now look funny because my belly makes them so short in the front. But buying a bunch of clothes for the next 80+ days seems like such a waste, especially since it will be only be warm here for another month or so.

  • Sadly, it's pretty normal. Last pregnancy, I didn't have the problem of starting to outgrow my maternity clothes until the last month; however, I didn't buy any maternity clothes until I was 22 weeks either. I am still fitting in mine now but I can already tell that I'll be on a similar boat as last time in a few weeks. However, knowing that's what happened before, I tried to buy looser maternity clothes this time around so that they will last through the end of pregnancy, so hopefully I have a few that do.

  • Honestly. When at home I live in my bathing suit and a cover up. Its too hot for any other clothes and DD and I spend a lot of time in the kiddie pool. When we go out I wear maxi dresses or skirts and my one pair of maternity shorts with long tank tops. I've just been buying them in the next size up. Seems to work.

I have no idea what Im gonna do in September when it gets a little cooler. Hopefully my leggings fit because my maternity jeans from last pregnancy don't.

  • I freaked out with my first when it suddenly got cold with 6ish weeks to go. I was banking on my dresses being ok to wear until I delivered (end of October and I live in MN). I ended up buying more maternity clothes in bigger sizes so I had some things that fit and didn't freeze during the final weeks. This time around I am pretty set because my sister had a baby in April and loaned me her winter maternity clothes.

  • I feel your pain. I started hating getting dressed about a week ago. Workout clothes are especially bad right now.

  • I bought some shorts from the gap at the beginning if my 2nd trimester & now the waistband just rolls down. Don't waste your money on their maternity clothes-yuck! I've had great success with Pinkblush maternity. Super cute clothes & they usually have a promo code.
  • I live in maxi dresses ATM. My job has even allowed me to wear them.
  • I don't know how this is working for me, but I'm still in regular clothes for the most part. The trick is that I lost about 50 pounds 2/3 years prior to getting pregnant, and I still had all my fat clothes. So, some of those dresses are still working. Then, I bought 4 "roll-down" skirts from ON. Those are working. Plus some maternity shirts from my friend and some regular shirts that were just flowy. My maternity dresses don't fit yet. STILL WAITING FOR THESE BOOBS.

  • I have some good bottoms that fit well- yoga pants from old navy, cotton shorts from walmart with a stretchy waist band, and capris that are similar. I am struggling with shirts though. A friend gave me lots of maternity shirts but they are either too big or long sleeve. I have not bought any maternity clothes yet but I am staring to outgrow my shirts. The best thing I have found is old navy perfect fit tanks- so cheap and buy a size or two too big and they fit great. I think I am going to be doing some shopping this weekend.

  • I've been living in dresses and skirts. I feel like I've been rotating the same 8-10 outfits since the beginning of my second trimester. I should probably care more, but honestly, I just want to be cool and comfy. I will probably want to burn these clothes because I'll be so sick of them by the time I deliver. I wear a tank and boy shorts at home.
  • Around the house I literally just wear PJ's...LOL I'll probably have a harder time when school starts back in August.

I'm dreading going back to school in August/ September because I'll have to buy work clothes just for that 5-6 weeks. What a waste!

  • I totally wear as few items as possible in my house. I recently bought two pairs of maternity pants that I will only wear when I go out and I will take them off immediately when I get home. If I MUST wear clothes in the house lol, I wear Dhs pj pants, basketball shorts and I will occasionally throw on his tshirts. Work from home life is wonderful.
  • I have been going bra free at home, wearing super big sweatshorts and a really oversized night shirts that i found on clearance.  However when I go out I have noticed the two maternity shorts I bought are starting to get a little tighter...sigh.

  • Target palazzo pants and two pair of these from h and m have been my saving grace! https://m.hm.com/us/product/21483?article=21483-A#mediaType=FASHION_FRONT.
  • A friend gave me a ton of maternity shirts which are still mostly working. My maternity skinny jeans are unbearable and the Demi panel non skinny ones are getting there. Mostly, it's boy short undies at home with a sports bra or tank! If I'm going out, maternity dresses or non-maternity maxi skirts with a fold over from Target in xxl are doing the trick.

I'm going back to school to teach for two weeks in September--we'll see what works then!!

  • I've gotten to the point that I'm boycotting any more clothes shopping or bra shopping. I am down to one pair of pants that I wear and only wear them when I have to go somewhere. I never thought I would be the one to run around the house in my underwear all day, but it's so much more comfortable!
  • Pregnant with twins and am *just* at the last week or two of my maternity shirts.  OB measured me to be size of 32 weeks with singleton but I've got a long ways to go til delivery trying to figure out the whole clothing situation.  This should be interesting...

  • Pants free at home!! I work at a doctors office so I had to get maternity scrub pants-they are starting to fit a little weird must have had a growth spurt. I have been living in dresses and maxi skirts outside of work -I refuse to buy maternity jeans as I live in NC and I know it will be brutally hot all the way through early October (fingers crossed)

  • Old navy has maternity yoga shorts that are so comfy! I've been wearing those and maxi dresses as much as possible bc even my other maternity stuff feels binding.
  • I tried on many pairs of non-maternity palazzo pants today at Marshall's, thinking the stretchy waist band would be my friend. It was fun, but nope. The band either has to go across my belly, which will not work in about a month, I'm guessing. Or the band has to sit under the bump which makes the fabric between the band and the crotch pooch out in a super attractive way.

So I guess that's why they make maternity clothes. And yoga pants. And naked.

  • Ugh I'm starting to have the same problem now at 27+ weeks.  Little Man is NOT the one for any pants at all.  He doesn't even like the maternity pants that come low under the belly and kicks and pushes against them all day long.  Uncomfortable and distracting.  The ones that go high over the belly are just too effing hot for me these days, and even then if I'm sitting he doesn't like the area where they change from stretchy to pant.  So.  Off I go to the store to buy some tent dresses I guess. Blech.

  • I'm starting to grow out of some of the maternity clothes I borrowed from a friend.  Bad timing, since I go back to work in a month (teaching high school) and I definitely can't do the no pants things like so many of you ladies have been posting about (although I am definitely living that up right now!!).  I'm trying to not spend a ton of money, but I've been in maternity pants since 15 weeks.  I am amazed whenever anyone says they are still wearing pre-pregnancy clothes at this point!
