Dd had her 2 week appointment yesterday with the pedi and I asked about the ridge she has at her frontal suture. The pedi said it feels like she has a partial fusion and is sending us to a specialists to have it checked further. Worst case scenario she has to have surgery around 6 months to have her skull cracked open to allow room for her brain to grow. In addition to that she has lost over a pound since birth so we are supplementing with formula and going in for a weight check tomorrow to see if she is gaining weight or still loosing. She also didn't pass her hearing test at the hospital after several attempts, so we see a specialists for that in September. I'm a emotional mess right now with all this going on. DH wanted to talk about it last night, but I told him I didn't want to discuss anything until after we see the specialists. The doctors and nurses keep reassuring me that babies fail the initial hearing test all the time and pass once they see the specialists. The pedi also tried to reassure me that the cranial fusions, but she didn't sound has convincing as she did with the hearing.
During college I worked at a daycare in the infant room and one of the little ones in there had a cranial fusion that resulted in surgery being done, so I have seen how the baby handles that. I keep thing of that little one and how much pain they were in leading up to the surgery and start bawling all over again. Any good thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated. I will update once we see the specialists on Friday.
Update:
The specialists doesn't see any signs of a partial fusion and was able to shift the bones around showing that they are not currently fused. We go back in September to make sure, but he basically said the pedi had a bit of an over reaction. Also, her weight has been steadily increasing and she is finally almost back to birth weight.

My LO failed her hospital hearing screenings as well. She was seen off site (not in the hospital) for a follow up screen and she totally passed. They told me it is not uncommon to fail at first as the fluid doesn't all get squished out during birth (and we were a c-section, so there was no head squishing of a vaginal birth to help that process). Hopefully it's the same for your LO!
