Got this idea from a separate thread, and thought it deserved its own.
Let's face it, the whole IF/TTC journey is a roller coaster of emotions with lots of downs. But, there's an occasional funny/embarrassing/cringe-inducing moment sometimes thrown in there that makes you forget about how hard things are, if only for a second. This thread is hereby dedicated to sharing those moments. Here's mine:
At my first RE appointment, I was leaving the office and waiting for one of the receptionists so that I could let them know I was ready to do my bloodwork. In line in front of me was a friend-of-a-friend's wife. I didn't recognize her at first, but I knew that I knew her and was trying to place the face. And then I saw my friend-of-a-friend walk up and immediately figured it out, but wasn't sure if he saw me. The bloodwork woman was blabbering on about how they test everyone for STDs and HIV as standard operating procedure, which is not exactly what you want someone you half-know to overhear. I definitely didn't feel like sticking around to see if he saw me or worse make small talk in the fertility center. The thing that made me chuckle and feel better was that when I walked by, I saw him literally hiding his face (practically buried!) in a magazine and his wife giving him a "WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU??" look.

I'm cracking up at all of these. It's nice to have a lighthearted post sometimes!
Men can be so uncomfortable with the things they need to do, and it's like 1% of the overall discomfort of what WE have to go through. And in their case, at least it's not painful or in a room full of other people.

I don't think I really have an embarrassing IF story (any more than discussing sex and showing your vagina to people all the time).
One time I went to my OB/GYN to get a colposcopy. They wanted a urine sample, but I was so nervous I forgot to pee in the cup, and when I realized it, I cried. :-P

I don't have anything that good. I did go for a monitoring appt once early in my cycle. My period had basically stopped, or so I thought. I took my light tampon out in the bathroom walked into the us room. When I undressed and went to hop up on the table the biggest clot I'd ever seen fell out onto the step stool. There was blood all over me and everywhere. I was trying my hardest to clean it all up and it took forever. I'm sure the us tech was wondering what took me so long.
Also years ago I had a d&c and never had a period for 4 months. When I finally did I bleed so much that my Dr sent me to the ER because they thought they would have to do another d&c to stop the bleeding. I had to get examined by the ER dr and I was humiliated, I was only 22 at the time. The Dr had to slide the metal bowl that was attached to the table and I could hear drip drip drip as I laid there. I cried the whole time.
Besides the general embarrassment of the constant doctors visits... Not super embarrassing, but after my HSG I sat up and the doctor was explaining the results. For whatever reason I felt the need to hold in the dye they had just injected. I must have had a strange look on my face because my doctor was like "Sweetie, you can just let it go." I felt so dumb.

Last month I was annoyed at DH for something stupid. Later that night I wanted to BD because it was that time. He was hesitant (I thought he was just tired) but we started, after a while I noticed things were taking a lot longer then normal.
I asked him if he was close to the finish line. He just stopped and looked at me and I swear to god saw fear in his eyes.
DH "Um... I thought you were mad so I um... well... umm."
ME "You got to be kidding me, you did it without me? and you threw them away???? WE NEED THOSE!!!!!!"
DH "But I thought you were mad at me."
Me "but I still want KIDS WITH YOU!"

Lmao! Yours is hilarious! I'm sorry that happened but men are sooooo clueless sometimes! Lol.
Mine isn't treatment related but when DH and I first started REALLY trying I had bought some OPKs from Walmart, and the ones I bought were identical to a positive pregnancy test when peed on. And since I was new to the whole OPK thing I decided to keep it for reference. My mil came into my room and I asked her if something I hung on the wall looked crooked and she hesitated and stuttered and finally said "uh no honey, it looks great". I was thinking to myself how weird it was that she hesitated for so long. And then I looked down and noticed the OPK literally sitting on the foot of our bed. She's never had any TTC problems so I'm not sure she knew what it was other than a positive pregnancy test. And I was NOT ready to tell her that we were having problems. So I just let her think what she thought. I felt so bad.
But now she knows about our problems. Not sure if she knows that it was an OPK yet but hey. She hasn't mentioned it.
Damn that man is fast lol...
Haha - when my DH dropped off his sample (at a lab, not an RE), the guy that collected it, held it up, looked it over and loudly asked "what is this?" DH was fully mortified. Seriously in that line of work, wouldn't you learn to be a bit more discreet?
