This sucks (NBR)

We're on vacation out of state, visiting my sister. My parents also came on vacation the same time. My dad had a heart attack today and died. He was fine the past several days, even fine this morning. He drank a mimosa, he was joking around, even gave DS a piggy-back ride. He started having chest pains, so went to the hospital. He walked in the hospital on his own. They were checking him out, he was just supposed to be on a monitor for a couple hours for observation. Instead, he died. They said they call that type of heart attack "widow maker". He was only 61. He was in good health, had good blood cholesterol results, nothing that we thought this was coming. If it wasn't for his white hair and receding hair line, you would think he was 30! He never acted "old".

This picture was taken yesterday, it captures him perfectly, he was always joking and a blast to be around. We (my parents, my family, and my sister and her family) all went to a sea turtles rescue facility. At least we all got to be together for a few days.

I came very close to losing my dad in a similar way a few years ago, but my pain through that experience was only a fraction of what you and your family are going through now. I'm glad you got to spend a little precious time with him the last few days. You have my sincerest condolences.
