We had some success with CIO at night wakings. We are now trying it at bedtime bc LO will not go to sleep on her own and wants to be rocked to sleep, then she'd wake up when we moved her!
Has anyone had success with CIO at the beginning of nighttime routine? We took out checks because it was making it worse?
I feel like LO is also starting to get some seperation anxiety. When I leave the room and she sees I'm gone she'll start crying.
She is 7 months. I guess I'm just wondering if she is having seperation anxiety, if it'll make CIO worse? I have no clue, FTM here.
This sleep stuff is really stressful.
Re: Getting LO to sleep
Personally I'm fine with continuing to rock her til she's a year or so old, I think that will be a better transition point when now all the separation anxiety is starting, like you said. I tried breaking her of the rocking about a month ago & it didn't go that well, just made nap & bedtime 10x longer & harder for her & me, & she just didn't seem ready.
@lifesaverz I was just rocking her but she started waking up on transfer and not falling back to sleep. With every wake up. Now she falls back to sleep even when she wakes (which is most of the time)
It took almost 2 weeks of consistent no check-ins for bedtime to resolve and we kept moving her bedtime earlier and earlier which seemed to help. (Much longer than most books and my pedi said it would). But now she rarely cries unless she is overtired for bedtime. Have you tried putting her to bed earlier? It may be that she's overtired at that point even if it doesn't seem like it. Good luck!!
