For me, temping is a must. It takes the guess work out of it. I know exactly when I ovulated, I know how long my LP is so I know when to expect my period. I temped with my first and we got pregnant the on the 5th try. Temping helped me know when we should make sure we should definitely be having sex, and I also knew exactly when I should I be testing because I knew that 10 days after I ovulated my temp started to fall. So on the month when we got pregnant and my temp was still elevated on the 10th day post O, I tested and it was positive. I'm temping again while we TFAS to help take the guess work out of it. Not knowing when I ovulated or when I should actually test would drive me bonkers.

Yeah, all those reasons are the reasons that i do want to chart.
I don't chart yet, we are ttc our 3. This is only the second month after my m/c, I think if it doesn't happen this month then I will start charting next month. The main reason I have not started charting is because I don't want to get to obsessed with it since with my husbands work schedule I only see him on sat and Sundays. I know I will be obsessing about it on the days that he is working late..
@14whitney thanks for the link! I had been hunting the newbie links for something to explain this! Any brand in particular for the BBT digital thermometer?
I decided not to chart for the first few cycles. If nothing has happened by November then I will begin to chart. I'm hoping that just by watching my CM I can get pregnant.
I chart cm, cramps, and periods. I don't temp because I don't ever get to sleep 4 consecutive hours except for maybe first thing at night. & I'm already too sleep deprived to add a chore in the middle of the night.
I have been unable to get pregnant for five years and counting. I started charting early on, and was very diligent and detailed. But like others it became too manic, and so I stopped. But now I know myself so well, that I can tell where I am out. However, I have very irregular periods and sometimes excessive bleeding. My ovulation kits show that I do ovulate, or have an LH surge, but I am still unable to conceive. I have had one child before. I went to a fertility doctor and everything checked out with both me and my husband. We got as far as the shots but then ran out of money. He said he would get me pregnant in no time. That was three years ago. So no, I am not charting. And I am trying to conceive.
