@TRS48 I asked my U/S tech about grading the placentas. She said that our hospital did not do that but some hospitals do. She then proceeded to grade both and gave them 1's.
I am not long for pregnancy now. Doctor striped my membrane today and I just got back from the chiro to induce. Hopefully I can go on my own, if not they are inducing me early next week.
Babies are really small so that is concerning. Girl was 5lbs and 11th percentile and boy was 5lbs 9 oz and 20th percentile. Fingers crossed that they growth scan was off by the margin of error (1lbs)
Doctor (not my normal one) prescribed me lidocaine on Friday for my pelvic pain. It really takes the edge off and makes it bearable now.
Thank you for asking @Hoosier722 ! You're so lucky! Mine are grade 2s that worries me but they said its normal at this point, ugh... Off to google I go lol. Btw I had two June baby friends have their membranes stripped and both went into labor about 12-24 hours later! Keep us updated and best wishes to you all!!
@AnotherDreamer I've been MIA lately, but congrats on your girls!! I've totally been thinking of you. Glad things are going well!
@Iks18 I hope you're doing well, too! I switched OBs b/c I'm now delivering in a new city and my old OB has no privileges in the new one. New hospital has a NICU 3 whereas old hospital had only a nursery, and with my GD w/ insulin and having twins I'm higher risk and stuff.
And I got an induction date! Friday!!! So excited! Now hopefully they'll call and tell me there's space for me and I can come in...
Grace Betty and Charles Marcus were born on the 4th of July (37 weeks 3 days). They are tiny babies with Grace coming in at 4 lbs 13 oz and Charlie at 5 lbs 3 oz.
At my MFM appt on Thursday, the doctor did not feel comfortable letting me go through the weekend and schedule me to come in for induction on the 4th at 6:00. The babies were born at noon. DS 1 and DS 2 stopped by for a bit but lost interest in about 10 minutes.
The first night was a bit rough with constant feelings, Charlie had some temperature issues last night and we have them double wrapped because they are so small. Grace is a much better eater than Charlie so she will be catching up soon.
They are so beautiful and I am so happy that they are here now.
Our little boys arrived 7/9 at 3:16am & 3:17am via c-section after my water broke around 1am. They weighed in at 6 lb 13 oz & 5 lb 11 oz and were 37+3 weeks. We are so in love!
So sorry if this is mommy brain speaking, but have all twin moms had their babies by now? Anyone still hanging tough? Congratulations to us new moms!
Sorry to have not updated sooner. I ended up with a CS on 37 weeks exactly (July 1) and though my babies were an ok-ish size (5lbs 7oz and 5lbs 12oz) they both ended up in the NICU for 8 days. The larger one (Ximena, pronounced Hee-men-ah) actually had worse respiratory distress at birth than the smaller one (Erika), so Ximena was immediately whisked away to the nicu. We got to cuddle Erika a bit but then she showed she was working hard at breathing so she joined her sister. They had breathing difficulty, temp problems, and jaundice. They couldn't feed at all until they got their breathing in better shape so they were on IVs for about 3 or 4 days. It's kind of a blur now. So I started pumping and still have not stopped. They're actually become pretty decent nursers after a shaky beginning, but this whirlwind of a lactation consultant at the hospital said you can't trust near preterm babies to get your supply to where it needs to be so she has me breast feeding, bottle feeding, and pumping. So far no real problems with nipple confusion so I am grateful for that. I've done a few tandem feeds but I feel like we're still getting the hang of regular feeding so I'm mostly doing one-on-one feedings.
So now we've been home for 5 nights and it's going pretty well. My husband helps with some of the nighttime feedings, and my mom is here and doing the shopping, cooking, walking the dogs, etc. Very grateful for all their help. So I wasn't on the bump during the hospital time and only started looking again yesterday or so. Time to put up a new ticker! I hope you all are doing well with your new babes.
How are all of our twin MoMS?! It feels like its been FOREVER since I've gotten a chance to sit down and post here but I am just so busy every second of the day- I imagine its the same for you ladies! Any updates?
Our boys are 4 weeks old tomorrow. They spend most of their time eating, sleeping, and getting their diapers changed. I try to do tummy time 1-2 times a day with them. They have both been pretty gassy, which makes nighttime so much fun. I hope it passes soon. Its so fun to watch them grow and fill out more from the tiny little frames they started in (6 lb 13 oz & 5 lb 11 oz). I have been pumping and giving formula- breastfeeding was just taking way too long with the two of them one at a time and I got nervous trying to tandem feed alone because they were so small and wiggly for a while. I hate that I am not breastfeeding but such is common it seems for a twin mom. Anyone who is- I commend you! Anyway, trying to keep this short. Just wanted to see how you all are doing and revive this thread with my fellow July twin mommas! Here is a pic of our boys from their newborn session
@TRS48 such a cute pic! Don't feel bad about BFing not working out. I'm FFing my guys and it's keeping me sane.
I hadn't posted here since having the kiddos either. It is exciting seeing them get more chubby and fill out definitely. They both have gained over 2 lbs since they were born, which is very exciting! I'm trying to do tummy time, too, but it's not happening as much as I'd like. I'm trying to get them on more of a schedule, but it's hard with them being so little.
Is anyone else reading Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Twins? I've been reading it and wonder if anyone else is and has any thoughts about it. How have you followed it? I'm trying to be pretty strict about stuff with them. Like I'll get them on a schedule as soon as I'm able. We did with DD1 and it was so worth it. Also, do you guys actually put them down for bedtime at a certain time yet? We'll make their bedtime at 7ish, but right now they just go to bed whenever really.
Ugh I'm so sorry @AnotherDreamer. I read your post last night about how difficult your girls have been with sleep. I figured right now most of us aren't worrying about schedules too much. Around two months I think I'll start working on it a bit more, but we'll see. Right now really is about survival with three!
Does anyone have preemies here? We are still on a 3hr feed schedule and it's getting so so old! Good news though one hit 8 pounds so I can stop with him but I have to continue with my 5 pounder. I haven't stopped yet because he is still waking with his sister wanting food at 11, 2, and 5am.
@AnotherDreamer I think I have hit my wall today, the three hour thing is just lame but also one has evening colic..the screaming has me in such a negative mood. I can't wait to get to the next phase. I will probably seriously need counseling after this but I just don't have the time right now lol!
So glad to hear all are doing well! @shanaynerz I also read that book and have tons of notes on it. I think it said not to bother with a schedule until 6 weeks so I need to look back at it again and start figuring it out... I just realized my boys will be 6 weeks next week- woah. That seemed so far away for so long! Right now ours go to bed whenever... I am nervous about the schedule bc I just started feeding them on demand and its so nice when they sleep longer so Im not excited about waking them up to eat ugh. LOL. Let me know if you end up implementing a schedule and how it goes!
@TRS48 We haven't implemented much yet, just OUBU. Trying to get everyone on board though b/c I feel like the nanny hasn't been strict about it, so there's times we're feeding them all day it feels like. I'm not sure how to do a bedtime routine, too, b/c they just go down whenever really. Ugh I'll figure it out... I like schedules! I'm confused about whether I should eventually let them CIO during nighttime though; never had to with DD1.
My kids sleep well at night, like @ashleysyn2, but during the day it's hit or miss. I purposely aim to get them napping in their cribs as much as possible, but keep them awake after feeding for a tiny bit. I've read that can help with sleeping, the eat, play, bed routine, but who knows. It's all trial and error!
Omg though @quinncat the 2 screaming babies grates on my soul. It's so hard at times. I sometimes need to just ignore it for a few minutes to regain my sanity. I let them cry like you said. The one thing I've heard is they need to learn patience as a twin, and DD1 definitely has had to learn patience, too! I really can't give them all the attention they want/need, so we all just need to do the best we can.
I've had help thankfully, but I still feel overwhelmed with everything. I want to be everything to everyone, but I need to remind myself I can't be.
Re: July twin MoMs
Keeping my fingers crossed for some easy pushing!!
@AnotherDreamer
