My iron was low so I'm having to take extra iron right now, however, it's making me so constipated. Anyone else have this problem? What are you using to help? Thanks!
Ugh, I'm not looking forward to this. I had a message on Friday saying my iron is low. I'm waiting to hear back from them today about what exactly I'm supposed to be doing about it!
Adding in a Tbsp of ground flax to my breakfast (smoothie, oatmeal or cereal) helped me a lot with 1st tri constipation.
I have iron issues typically - even before pregnancy. I had to go through full blown iron infusions last summer. I am on a twice daily supplement for iron. I take a soluble fiber - like Metamucil and I take extra calcium chews with extra fiber. I get a lot of fiber in veggies as well. Also stay hydrated, this is really important. I still have my days where I can't go for 3 days or so, but most of the time I don't have too many issues with this.
I am currently taking iron and my doctor has me taking a Colace twice a day also. If it's been a few days since I've had a bm, she gives me milk of mag and it helps within 24 hours. Good luck. I hope you find something that's brings you relief.
They
are having me take an iron supplement with a vitamin C to help with absorption.
So far it was been working well and no bathroom issues. Fingers crossed that
continues!
Not looking forward to this. Just got a call that my iron is low so I need to be taking an iron supplement & they warned me that this might happen. Hopefully upping water intake helps & guess I will look for the slow release tablets. Good luck hope it gets better
I am in the same boat as @MissMandyD. I guess vitamin c helps your body process the iron (?) and calcium does the opposite. So don't have your iron with a calcium supplement or a tall glass of milk I guess. But so far things have been moving right along despite taking iron supplements and I am shocked by that.
