DS2 doesn't napppp. I lay him down and he wakes up literally less than 20 minutes later. I'm only not upset cuz he's an awesome sleeper at night (knock on wood). But when he's awake, he's on my boob the whole time. As in, all day long. This morning it was 9-11:30 straight.
MIL got in to town yesterday. She's nowhere near as crazy as what some you ladies have to deal with, but she lives alone so when she's visiting it's like she's got to talk nonstop to make up for not having anyone at home to have conversations with. She will just talk about random stuff and DH and I can start talking about something else and she'll keep on with whatever she's saying while we're having a totally different conversation. Also, I'm sorry, but as much as I believe DH is pretty awesome, I do not believe he took down 2 bottles of formula in a row (7 oz she estimates) in his first 24 hours and gained 9oz before he left the hospital. Btw, we're not formula feeding anyway, so why is it relevant even if he managed to actually do it?
That's when I smile, nod, and don't engage. I also pray the topic changes quickly, or I change it. I have a few relatives like that. I'm lucky if I get "uh huh" or "yeah" interjected into their monologues.
That's exactly what I do. It's ridiculous. I love when she talks over whatever I'm trying to watch on tv, too. And, of course I always manage to block out the fact that she likes to take care of some "personal grooming" while sitting in the comfy chair in the living room. Gross lady. Take care of those hairs in the privacy of your hotel room please.
I'm terrified to hurt a possible baby boner (never seen one before so I don't know what to look out for) so I don't push B's little wee-wee down... I've had to change twice today because the he peed out the top.

@pintsizemama15 oh really? There was a thread here awhile back where moms were talking about how painful pushing one down can be. DH confirmed it and ever since I've been terrified to push it down. I guess I will test the layers cause he's pees a ton for a little guy and I'm sick of doing laundry.
I want to scream at MIL about the TDAP vax. I told her 2 months ago to go get it. She said she would. We asked her about it today and she had no idea what we were talking about. I then sent her an article saying grandparents should get it too. Then she responds with "I read your article. Should I get this shot?"
Lol @summerlovin314, yes, one eats it. I had it on a bagel this morning. Followed up with eggplant parm and lots of bouncing on the exercise ball No schmearing necessary (ew!)
It's into The Order of the Phoenix and now all I can do is sit here, watch and think how much I freaking hate Delores Umbridge. That woman is pure evil!!
We've had HP on all day and I literally just said the same thing!

We told my FIL he needed to get the shot, and he flat out told us "I'm not getting any shot, that's bullsh*t." Inlaws can be so frustrating!
I quit finding things to do around the house for a while now that DH is home. We sat down to eat and turned on the Harry Potter marathon on ABCFamily. It's into The Order of the Phoenix and now all I can do is sit here, watch and think how much I freaking hate Delores Umbridge. That woman is pure evil!! If anyone ever deserved a twat-punch it's her...
If you have the time, go on youtube and search A Very Potter Musical (it's in several parts because it's so long).. I think you'll appreciate their interpretation of Umbridge.
I'll keep that in mind for tonight when I'm bored because I can't sleep!
Oops, my bad, she doesn't appear in the first one (although it's good and well worth the watch anyhow) but she's in A Very Potter Sequel. I will warn you the language is not kid/work friendly, but it's hilarious!
I'm anxious to watch both of them now! I love me some Harry Potter!
In other news, DH decided we needed to watch something else for a while because he thinks I'm getting a little too worked up about how much I can't stand Umbridge. I'm telling you guys, I can't handle books/movies/any fiction because I get wayyyyy too emotionally involved.
I am re-reading the entire series and when i finished book 4 my husband couldn't figure out why i was being weird about starting the next one. I had to explain that i seriously just don't like book 5 as much as the others, mostly because of her.
He kinda just stared at me for a second and was all "ummm....okay". Poor guy just doesn't understand.
Also, i really miss cable for things like HP movie marathons.
Damn it, I just realized we're having visitors today. I wanted a day to get my house and life in some sort of order. Yesterday, I was solo with my 3 year old and 1 week old for 15 hours (which included swimming, and a newborn photoshoot), I'm friggin exhausted and just need a day to get things in order.
At least the guests are bringing Chipolte

DH was STTN by the time they were home from the hospital. Why? Because he was FF and they told her to feed him every 3 hours from 6am-10pm and it's no wonder he'd STTN since he was so full from all the bottles.
DH started with solids at 6 weeks. Nothing "crazy," just watered down rice cereal. And what a difference from her daughter (12 years before) where they started solids at 4 months, but that was just fruits.
WTH? I know recommendations have changed in 35+ years on what to do, but really? STTN right away because you feed every 3 hours? How is that any different from what they recommend today for newborns?
The full moon let down last night. However I did actually sleep really well so I guess that's a bonus to not going into labor. I decided I would try reorganizing and cleaning today to see if that would help get things going. Next up will be a walk when the sun goes down!
Anyone else trying anything special to get their little squishes to make their debuts??
My mom apparently thinks I'm 5, although I suppose this isn't REALLY news to me. My SO and I went to the movies a few days ago to get in one last hurrah before the insanity begins. We did an afternoon show of Transformers, and of COURSE, my mother called and left a voicemail roughly 10 minutes into the movie. NBD, right? When I call her back, she starts in on "How DARE you go to the movies without letting me know where you were? I couldn't reach you and I was panicking! It was thoughtless and inconsiderate!"
Cue a few days later on July 4, we drive 20 minutes up the turnpike to his sister's for a BBQ. When she hears about the wonderful time I had, it turned into "You're really endangering this baby with driving so far away all the time. I mean, Amanda (my godmother's daughter) and Leanne (her coworker's daughter) were given strict driving limits! And you just keep going off, traipsing around, more than 2 hours away from your hospital!" No, I was about 40 minutes from the hospital, I just don't drive 45 mph on the turnpike like you do.
She's driving me batshit. Calling 5, 6 times a day. Hounding me about when I'm supposed to go to the hospital (because the 5-5-1 rule I was told in birthing class and by my OB doesn't match what she did 40 years ago, I have to go the second I feel the first contraction). Back off, lady.
GAH! Mothers and mothers-in-law can be such a PITA!!!!!! Thanks for the pressure valve there, gals!
SO and I are slightly disappointed LO hasn't decided to make his appearance today only because then he would have shared his birthday with Patrick Stewart.
Yeah, we're nerds.
Every time I went into L&D with prodromal labor we checked the birthdays for that day.
I think we got a good one for July 1st, Princess Di!
I'm so annoyed & can't wait until tomorrow's B-Fest, plus I might forget.
What the crap is wrong with my FIL! He's lucky that I didn't throw something at him today. At church this morning he reminds me AGAIN that his mom is arriving in town today so I need to start walking to get this baby out. My response was that I wasn't going to try & make him come early, I was comfortable waiting until he was ready to come out on his own. Apparently that wasn't a good answer because he said I must not be miserable enough or I'd be doing more.
Who says something like that! Ugh ~X(

Yeah, we're nerds.
That's adorable. I, math nerdily, wanted LO to come on 7/7/14 because 7+7=14.
I really wanted her to come on 7/2...ya know, 7x2=14. She didn't comply.
I'm pretty sure I'm not leaving the bathtub until EJ makes his appearance. It is the only place I can get somewhat comfortable these days without being on my hands and knees to take the pressure off my pelvis. The next 7-17 days could get quite...pruney.
I'm in the same boat. I have horrible back pain and the only relief is warm water. (As I type on my iPad in the tub).
Today was definitely my worst day as a new mom. LO decided he no longer wanted to eat/sleep on his routine (every 2-3hrs) and instead switched to 1hrs! So when I am trying to calm him down but he's SCREAMING bloody murder... I just cannot console him. I finally offer food, which he jumped at and settled down immediately. Epic fail mom. Way to starve your kid. So I've been ugly crying ever since. I hate when he cries... It literally HURTS my heart. Thankfully, I don't think he held a grudge.
Well DH came home from work this morning and said he was going to change the tire on the truck so I could take all three kids to church since the carrier won't fit in the car. I asked him not to change the tire till my dad could help him because I was worried something would happen if he did it alone. 10 minutes later he comes inside and I hear him yell upstairs, we have to go to the ER. The jack slipped and the truck fell down on his hand and smashed it on the jack. Luckily he didn't cut any nerves and only nicked a tendon. It took two hours to sew up his palm and the top of his hand. He has to work three more twelve hour shifts starting again tomorrow night and he can't even button his own pants. I am trying not to say, I told you so, but it's so hard. I may wait till he is asleep and just whisper it in his ear. X( I am very thankful that he did not lose any fingers and that the damage wasn't worse.

I was hoping for 7/7/14, 7/14/14 or 7/21/14 so that way everything was divisible by 7. S'okay though. 7/10 worked just fine.
I was hoping my first would be a Pi-day baby, but she was a few days late. She ended up being Pi kilograms. I never know what her weight was in lbs/oz.
Random question about hands free pumping bras. Do you only put it on when you want to pump? I made a basic one by cutting nip slits out of an old bandeau, but wonder if I should also purchase a real one for back to work pumping. The DIY version totally works but would not provide any coverage or support in the real world.
I only wear mine while pumping. If I made one out of a cheap sports bra, I may consider wearing it when not pumping as well. However, the Simple Wishes bra really isn't something I'd be comfortable wearing all day.

@Lizzy42 are you scheduled to be induced? I HATE when people ask me that but I wondered what your game plan was since you seem to be the furthest along (most overdue).
The cat (who sleeps in my face every night) slept in the pack & play bassinet last night (despite the strategically placed box to keep her out of it). After I removed (ejected) her 4 times between 10p-midnight, i finally gave up. THis morning we spread a sheet over the top of the whole contraption, hoping to keep her out. Next step foil, and after that squirt bottle and double stick tape.
Re: Random thread- for all things random.
So glad I'm not the only one hoping this full moon/super moon brings on some labor action!

I've never seen one on DS.
