@CherSomething - Welcome to the MSPI check in. So sorry you have so much going on with hour LO; it sounds super stressful!! I am still pretty new to this check - in myself but just wanted to say the ladies here have been SO helpful and supportive. I too have cut dairy and soy and it is tough. I feel like I've been starving the past week BC I haven't been able to get out to buy food and there are VERY few items in my home that I can eat. I just placed an order for groceries though for some items I read about online that I can eat, which will hopefully help. There are a bunch of lists in different message boards and blogs if you do a Google search. If you want ideas that your local ShopRite might carry (where I just ordered) let me know and I'd be happy to share my shopping list! Good luck and big hugs!!!
@CherSomething Hi. Diaper rash was the reason I knew my DS had allergies. He had redness just near his anus (dr. Sears calls it an allergy ring) that would not go away. It might get a little better some days but it took 4 weeks no dairy no soy to go away.
I had difficulty distinguishing a mucous diaper from a clear one. His stool was the right color and seemed to be normal. I read that if you put the two sides of the diaper together then pull them apart if the poop has mucous in it it will look like strings between the two sides (does that make sense?) when I did this I discovered yes they were mucousy.
Newborn stage is rough especially when they are sick. (Mine was hospitalized for not regulating body temp and losing too much weight) I ate oatmeal, peaches and granola, bananas, guacamole and chips. I remember being so hungry I could cry. I started making extra dinner so there would always be another meal for me. If we went out or got take out I'd order extra.
CherSomething I am sorry you are having such a hard time. It is hard in the beginning when dealing with "cleaning" up your milk. I stuck to just a few foods in the beginning that I knew were safe. Guac and chips, cape cod kettle chips, oreos....it does suck, but it gets easier once you learn how to read all the ingredients, and get into a groove. Hang in there!
