Cloth Diapering

Tide users

I'm just curious......

I don't have any on hand and I have no need to purchase any yet.....but after reading a few articles on laundry lately, I've been wondering....how much powdered Tide (in tablespoons) does it take to fill the scoop to the smallest load size line (line 1).

So if anyone wants to join me in my curiosity.......otherwise, I will test this out for myself in a few weeks when I need to buy more laundry detergent.

Re: Tide users

  • I believe it is 3 tablespoons to the first line. If I remember right. I use half a tablespoon for a small load every other day. You will have to play around with it.

  • 4 Tbsp to line 1.  That is 1/4 cup to line 1.
  • I was almost close. ;)

  • Either way 1-2 tablespoons would be roughly the recommended amount for a small load.....assuming I remember correctly that line 1 is for a medium size load.

  • I wash about 12 pockets, 24 bamboo inserts and two ON fitteds and covers at once with half a tablespoon of tide and half a tablespoon if oxyclean. I have a FL HE. I'm not really sure what others consider a full load?

I'd be washing up to 12 pockets and 10-12 flats (and maybe 1-2 AIOs and 1-2 Thirsties hemp inserts) currently for my diaper load. I've noticed with my "new" washer that smaller loads agitate better....so a medium sized load by my previous standards is my max for clothes. My washer has the capacity for washing larger items (like bedding) that don't need to move about as much as clothes do; when I fill it to capacity with clothes they just wiggle in the water for lack of room to move, even with agitation set on fast. My washer is an old-fashioned top loader. Washer has 4water level settings, diapers usually are on level 1-2 depending on how many pockets vs covers were used. Level 3 is my max for clothes and level 4 is for bedding and large items. I was using a generic detergent for my non soap nuts loads but I'm debating buying Tide again for washing those loads. ETA omitted word from sentence.

I do big loads - usually about 20 pockets + inserts, ON inserts, 5-10 prefolds, plus wipes and wet bags. I usually do right around the first line or just under. I was doing less but they weren't getting clean enough so I upped it a little.
