Re: GTKY 7/11!
1. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? Tell us about it. And, what did you end up being?
I can't really remember wanting to be anything as a kid. I think on "career day" I usually went as an artist. I don't think I was quick to choose a profession. Which continued until after college. I was a Theatre Major... but my only full time job has been in the recreation industry. Mostly for different camps. I love my job... but it is all consuming and kind of exhausting these days. Sometimes I worry that I will never have any energy ever again....
2. Favorite dessert is...?
Is ALL an answer? Since I have been pregnant, all I want to eat is dessert. Real food makes me puke... especially healthy foods. Here is a short list of my favorites: cupcakes, peach cobbler, cookies (no nuts!), sundaes, fruit snacks (not allowed in my house because I eat them by the boxful.), candy bars and more cookies.
3. What's up this weekend?
A weekend off???!!!!???? This will be the first weekend I have had off (that didn't include travelling to see one set of parents or the other since) March. WHAT WILL WE DO WITH OURSELVES???
I think we may go see a movie tonight, we are going to go look at car seats tomorrow, and then Sunday we are going to do boring adult stuff: grocery shopping, house cleaning, yard work (that I am excited about, because I usually miss it!).
And Monday... we get to see baby again for our anatomy scan! I can hardly contain myself!
Baby Hayden Frances born 12/20/14 at 11:11 a.m... Our perfect little miracle. Here's how we got here:

2. This is hard to narrow down, but I'd say a killer ice cream sundae with hot fudge, candied hazelnuts, with say, salted caramel ice cream (1/2) and chocolate (1/2) topped with whipped cream and a cherry? Or, peach pie. Or any cake with good frosting. While I like cookies and sweet breads and stuff, I can pass those up more easily. Though the signature dish at my wife's coffeeshop is Coconut Bread, and it is epic.
Of course with GD, not a lot of sweets going on - but I do plan to click up the insulin pen this weekend for a piece of cake at our baby shower!!
3. J's mom arrived from Arkansas last night and she is here for the weekend. As I mentioned in other posts, we are now having the shower at our house (instead of J's coffeeshop where we had our wedding and reception) due to a community event that weekend in that 'hood. Parking alone would have been a disaster. So, today and tomorrow is about hauling ballz on the house (been chipping away at it all week so we're in good shape!). Sunday is the shower, about 35-40 people are supposed to come and we're excited!!
Otherwise we're taking out mom's out to a nice dinner tonight (my mom lives here). Tomorrow is acupuncture, yoga and picking up the shower cake...then hanging out with MIL. Weather in Seattle right now is out of sight - 80's, blue skies, sun and 0% chance of rain! WTH! We'll take it!
Me (43) and J (45) - same sex couple. And we don't feel 40+!

So... my computer does this really weird thing that if a question ends in a smiley face, even if I answer the question it just adds another smiley face.....
Anywho, my actual answer to number 1:
I don't think I really wanted to be anything... I had Peter Pan syndrome from the time I was born. I wasn't really interested in growing up, and still don't really want to. That's how I ended up working at camp. Sure, I do a lot of really adult things... incident reports, overseeing the health and safety of hundreds of people at the same time, etc.... but I also get to do things like: make puppets out of paper bags, design scavenger hunts, sing songs, and talk about poop (from a scientific standpoint, of course.)

2. Favorite dessert is...? Ice cream sundaes. Hot fudge is definitely a must, whipped cream and maybe hot peanut butter sauce.
3. What's up this weekend? We drive back to the SF Bay Area from Las Vegas tomorrow. Its an 8+ hour drive - and a little daunting. FX it all goes well. Sunday we have a friends wedding in the Santa Cruz mountains. Today I'm taking the boys to an indoor play place and then hopefully meet EV at the hotel pool. Tonight EV has another work event so I'll be home with the boys, and probably watching the Harry Potter marathon on tv. There's a beautiful soaking tub in the hotel suite with large windows looking out on the city scape. I'd love a bubble bath with a book, and would consider my vacation complete if I can sneak it in...
I wanted to work with animals. Which I did, I was a vet assistant for about 2 years after going back to college for the 2nd time. But I decided to join the military after my wife and I married. Better pay, benefits, pension. Very happy I made that decision. I love serving my country.
2. Favorite dessert is...?
I love anything chocolate. Yum!
3. What's up this weekend?
I'm not sure what's going on this weekend. My in-laws are heading home tomorrow and my Mom is still here for another week, so I imagine we will do something. Or I might be relaxing since today is our first IUI! Now the TWW begins!
I'm 35, DW is 33
Together since Dec 2007
Married since 18 June 2011
TTC #1
1st IUI - trigger, 9 July 14 at midnight, IUI - 11 July 14 at noon - BFP!!
10 Dec 14 - Lost our Baby Girl to Hydrops & Cycstic Hygroma due to Turner Syndrome
TTC #2
2nd IUI - hoping to try for our Rainbow in the Spring
2. I heart desserts so much. I love a good chocolate chip cookie or a fudgy brownie with ice cream. Or an ice cream sundae with nuts. Or a fruit crisp with ice cream... All vegan, of course.
3. I keep telling Z that this is the weekend of errands. So much to do around the house, plus we need to go get tv mounts, get my phone serviced, take things to storage, grocery shop, cook, etc. We are meeting a friend and his daughter for pizza after work today and I hope to get a family walk/run followed by brunch in on Sunday.
Happy weekend peeps!
An oldie, but goodie, pic of my Bama boo
Desert hmmmm?!!! Not a huge sweet person but homemade berry cobbler is pretty amazing. My weekend consists of a little nanny work while being in call for fires and hanging at the river with my brood : )
1. I wanted to be an inventor, or maybe go into advertising, but really I wanted to be a Shortstop for the NY Mets. Sad. I ended up initially as an athlete (hard to describe the situation, but let's just call it semi-semi-semi-pro) so I had to find a job that would support that and be flexible. I ended up in Purchasing and then Project Management within Purchasing.
2. I never had a sweet tooth until the day Gabe was born. Now I eat all the sweets. Carrot cake with a good cream cheese frosting is always a winner, but I'm typically just as happy with a good ol' bag of gummy bears.
3. We don't have a lot of concrete plans for the weekend, but we have TONS of things that need to get done and have been lingering. The one nice thing we're doing is that we both have massages scheduled for Sunday. They are one after the other so we will trade off on Gabe-duty.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

2. I love dessert in general. Classic bakery birthday cake is an old favorite. Ice cream is also a big weakness of mine. I also can't say no to a soft sugar or shortbread cookie ever. Christmas cookies are dangerous in my house!
3. My in laws are coming over at some point to visit Will. Otherwise, no concrete plans. I need to go to the bank, the grocery store... Oh and our birth announcements arrived so we have 150 envelopes to address.
