GTKY: donut edition

So my UO was clearly a good one lol. But it gave me a good idea for a thread. So let's talk about donuts. Which are better, Krispy Kreme or regular? Yeast donuts or cake donuts? If you could only eat 1 kind of donut the rest of your life, what would it be?

1. Regular donuts, obviously.
2. CAKE DONUTS
3. I love the plain donuts.. No glaze, no frosting.. Just plain cake donuts. Yummy.

1. Donuts are good .. all kinds I like Krispy Kreme but they leave a nasty film in my mouth and there is nothing too them so I end up eating like 6 (which isn't a big problem :-) )

2. Yeast donuts ... cake donuts are too dense too dry BLAH!

3. I would the boston creme filled chocolate glazed donuts forever .. I will admit I have had 2 this week and they were FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!

1- I like Krispy kreme doughnuts when I get them fresh. We used to go on vacation and buy 2 dozen hot Krispy kreme doughnuts, since then a Krispy kreme has been established close by us so every now and then we'll make the drive for hot doughnuts...it's like...memories lol

2- I'm a child and like sprinkle doughnuts and also sour cream cake doughnuts. I also enjoy icing of some kind

3- I hate all filled doughnuts...i seem to always get messy and it's never as good as I think they'll be. Tim Hortons used to have a long John doughnut but instead of having icing on top the entire thing was covered in powdered sugar and the filling wasn't as dense as the creme filling in their doughnuts now...it was so good but I haven't seen it in close to 10 years(it was more like a pastry then a doughnut)

Krispy Kreme or regular. If it's a donut, I'm eating it.

I prefer yeast but have had some pretty good chocolate cake ones with a chocolate glaze.

Anything with a chocolate glaze has my name all over it.

Yummmmmm...A donut post. :-) I LOVE donuts. I even wanted a donut "cake" at our wedding, but we ended up with a traditional cake. I may have to ask DH to stop for a donut on his way home from work!

1. Krispy Kreme only when they're hot and drive thru, otherwise, I actually love my local grocer's donut.

2. You know, I'm not sure I know the difference. That's terrible because I seriously love donuts! I'll have to figure that out for myself. EDIT I think I prefer cake, but not the ones that are dense....I read that Dunkin Donuts are cake, right? While I don't love Dunkin, per se, I like that type of donut, so I'm assuming I like cake. :-)

3. 1 donut for the rest of my life would be vanilla icing and sprinkles. :-) That's my favorite, but I also like glazed.

I love all doughnuts.

There was this place by my mom's house that had yummy ones with either strawberries or peaches (whichever was in season) poured on top. Oh my god.

This has very little to do with donuts but when I read your username my brain automatically sings the song "Look at Me" by Geri Halliwell.

Lol I feel like i need to change it...I've had it for close to 10 years and I'm a very different person from when I started the username. Then again...i am lazy lol

2. I love the yeast ones most unless it's blueberry cake!

3. I could eat Custard Filled with Chocolate Glaze ALL.DAY EVERYDAY!!

Since I have GD I have asked hubby to bring me a half dozen of custard donuts after delivery!!!!!

YES YES YES!!! Totally forgot about Apple Cider Donuts!!! The local apple orchard has the best and they bring back so many memories from my childhood!!!

And FWIW I have become a brand new (this year) fan of pazckis - if you don't know what it is .. its a Polish doughnut! If you haven't ever had one TRY IT!!! But make sure its AUTHENTIC!!! Holy freakin cow are they amazing!!!! They are popular around Fat Tuesday

Love donuts!

1.) KK is okay in a pinch, and better than grocery store stuff, but we have a local donut bakery that's better than kk.

2.) Yeast all the way. If I want cake, I'll just have a freaking cake!

3.) Boston Creme. Is there another kind?

AHHH yes! You just reminded me of these. There is a local farm around here that sells freshly baked hot apple cider donuts....in the fall, naturally. Now I am daydreaming of them and could cry because I can't have one right now!

3. Chocolate glazed lemon filled donuts. I grew up in CT & DD had them all the time. Now I live in CT and I have to ask my local grocery store to top their lemon filled donuts with chocolate for me. MMMMMm. Good stuff.

I actually have never been a really big fan of donuts, not saying I don't like them, just like most other breakfast foods before them. However, they have been my pregnancy craving since the beginning!

I am a true Michigan girl and cake donuts from the cider mill dipped in hot apple cider is pure heaven!

However if it's not fall and that's not available Tim Hortons vanilla dipped with sprinkles are my jam.

Regular, cake donuts, from my favorite bakery in my hometown, vanilla cake with chocolate frosting and chocolate sprinkles. I could totally handle only being allowed to eat that exact donut for the rest of eternity.

There is the bakery in my home-town that made doughnuts the size of my head, I'm not exagatering, and they used to make this this frosted cinnamon sugar one. I loved to sneak away during band class and go get one because it was first period, LOL! To answer the questions:

1) local bakeries or doughnut shops, have never been a fan of krispy kreme.

2) cake all the way!!!

3) if I can't get the frosted cinnamon sugar one the size of my head then cake with vanilla or choclate frosting and sprinkles. mmmmm

I have to vote for Krispy Kreme donuts since MEMORIES!!! I grew up eating those...but honestly they're only good fresh, then they get slimy.

Apple cider donuts really are the best things ever (even better than KK...don't tell!) and I think those are cake donuts, but otherwise I vote yeast and go for plain glazed or cinnamon sugar when available.

1) I am not a huge fan of donuts in general, but I really do not like Krispy Kreme.

2) If I am going to eat a donut, the only ones I like are plain cake. No glaze, no frosting, none of that. Way too sweet for me. Also I don't like yeast donuts at all. I think that's why I don't like the KK stuff.

3) Plain cake donuts with a cup of hot, sweet, creamy coffee to dip them in. That is lovely.

I've only had Krispy Kreme once. It was disgusting. I've always heard good things about them but never lived in an area that sold it. When we moved to WA it was the only doughnut place around us so I was expecting greatness and got a mess. I looooove yeast doughnuts the most. Growing up in MA there was a Dunkins every 5 miles so I'm going to have to go with their yeast chocolate frosted donuts. I could eat them all day every day.

There is an orchard out by my house that sells fresh apple cider donuts every fall. They make them in front of you and they are soooo goooood!! And now I want some, LOL!

I love DD donuts! My favorite there is chocolate covered with sprinkles.

My all time favorite donut I could have daiy is apple cider donuts. BUT I like them best when they are a day old from the fridge. H finds it's gross, but I think it's because I like the crunchiness from the grease being all coagulated. Ahha

I love all the donuts.
My favorite are from the Knights of Columbus (cake donuts).
I also love some bakery donuts and Dunkin in a pinch. We don't have KK here and they aren't my favorite anyways.

I should preface this by saying that Wegman's has a cinnamon sugar cake donut (and a Persian style roll) that rule my world.

Before discovering those, I was all about yeast donuts.

Now I'm cake, covered in cinnamon and sugar or a glaze all the way.

....aaaand now I want a donut.

Cake Donuts with one exception. Boston Creme.

If I could I would eat 3 chocolate cake donuts every day until I die. (probably at the ripe old age of 50 from all those donuts)

If you've never had a hot Round Rock donut, you have NO IDEA what you're missing.

As an example, pictured is a Texas sized donut and one of their regular donuts:

Seriously though, when they're hot, these donuts are AH-MAZE-BALLS!!!

I'm a big cake donut fan myself and get seriously butt-hurt if I happen to get some donuts, and someone EATS my damn cake donuts. Like, "I'mma stab a bitch" mad. Even when I'm NOT pregnant. Because those are MINE, damnit!!!

But, from KK, I do love the lemon filled donuts. Or creme/whipped cream filled ones. Those are yummy too.

Donuts are just SUPER tasty.

Give me ALL the donuts.

I don't like donut discrimination of any kind!

I don't love KK though, we had a fresh baked store open, only one in the area. It closed from lack of interest. Dunkin for the win! New England has no room for imposters

Yeast donuts are preferable, but I'm equal opportunity to a blueberry cake, and hell yes to Apple cider donuts from the farm!

All time fave is the chocolate covered, lemon filled. It was like a Boston creme but the filling was more like lemon curd. I frequently see a lemon filled, powdered donut but it is Not the same!

Now all I want is dozen donuts, to not share with anyone. Is that too much to ask?

I'm not really a donut person. I don't think I've Dover had a Krispy Kreme donut and I have no idea what a yeast donut is. I did go to a donut shop during this pregancy that serves hot donuts and you pick your toppings. That was pretty good just a little too sweet. If I had to pick a donut I'd treat myself too I guess I'd pick a boston creme or a cinnamon one to dip in coffee. ~O) ETA: reading all your posts is making me want to go get a dozen donuts lol!
