DS sleeps in his rnp every night. He's getting longer & his legs are bent up when he's in it now. Am I paranoid for thinking it could do damage to his leg growth? I'm considering transferring him to the pnp in our room but worried sleeping flat will really irritate his reflux... Any of you mamas have your LOs in a pnp or crib laying flat?

My LO sleeps in his PnP at nighttime and does ok. He doesn't sleep long stretches though (2-3h). For naps I also put him down on his tummy and he sleeps really well then. I'm too nervous to do it at night when I'm asleep as well but I check on him often during naps.
Not sure if I asked this yet, so I'm going to do it again. LO has been eating about 2.5oz every 2 hours instead of 3.5-4. It's only been in the past few days. We moved and now I'm in SC visiting my mom. He's 11 1/2 weeks so I think he's always going through a growth spurt because he's fussier than usual. I don't know if it's because we're in new environments and he wants to look around or what. He always has to sit up and see what's going on. Is it normal? Is he just distracted or is this something to be concerned about? I'm afraid he's not getting enough.
My LO has been very alert since day 1, and he also eats smaller meals more often to help with the reflux. Are you adding cereal to his formula? Don't forget about those calories too if you are. I think the general guideline for how many oz per day for FF is 2.5 x their weight. If he is taking close to that, and enough diapers are wet, I then he should be getting enough.
So my lo is 3.5 months and we were just given a possible reflux diagnosis yesterday. She does lots of spitting, little coughs, swallowing when nothing should be in her mouth and arches but she is usually fine (happier actually) when on her back and is better at night then during the day, so hers is not quite classic presentation. And I think we would have made it through without treatment except that about three weeks ago she started getting suuuuper fussy all the time. At first I thought 12 week growth spurt or maybe leap 3 and she drools a lot now too so how about teething as well. But she still wasn't getting better and has gone from sleeping a 5/6 hour stretch down to 2/3 at best. So after 3 weeks of no improvement in mood or sleep I went to the doc. She thought maybe she has mild reflex which set her up for an ear infection. But the eardrum wasn't actively infected just looked "dull". So she prescribed antibiotics and Prilosec. And (finally!) my question is, how do I get these nasty meds into the baby?!!?? I've tried twice. Last night it just ended up all over her and this morning she choked on it so bad she couldn't breath and puked everthing back out. It was awful. She is ebf and won't take a bottle. Soooo, how are you guys surviving this twice a day?
My LO hates the zantac. Chokes and spits it back out. I tried blowing in his face byt he swallows then chokes. I am wondering if any of you put the dosage in with an ounce of milk or juice then feed? Does this reduce the effectiveness? We give him an ounce of apple pear juice every day to help with constipation and I am thinking of adding to that.

When I give LO Zantac, I squirt it so far back in his mouth that he can't push it out. I basically squirt it in his throat. Have you tried that? It seems like they would choke but neither of my LO's ever have

I lean her back and squirt it as far back as I can but off to the side. I do a little bit at a time and wait for her to swallow before I give her more.
She hates her Zantac and often cries when I give it to her, but I hate to admit she swallows it down more easily when she is crying.
Goin to sound like a real dummy here but my LO just started a week ago at 9 weeks arching back after eating and being all around super fussy. Has always sneezed a lot and tons of hiccups even in my belly. The recent onset I thought was because I had a drop in supply- which is also a guess just not feeling as full recently- but now I'm thinking it may be reflux.
What were everyone's main symptoms that pointed to reflux?
We have no eating problems - basically every three hours and she's taking more and more but just started spitting up a bit too- really not an issue ever before. One night she'll sleep the whole night, the next up every three.
We found out at 2 or 3 weeks that he had reflux. He had major spit up issues, not gaining weight, hiccups, arched back during feedings, and cried when he spit up due to the acid.
How long did it take to see a big difference with Zantac? We started it Friday. Before that she was restless all night an up every couple hours. She has slept 5 hours the past two nights without waking! But she is still fussy at the boob and arching back also crying after spit up
I'm just joining this group since my LO just got put on Zantac. DH and I always had a feeling she had it, but our pedi was hesitant to put her on it. We insisted this last visit she get it. We tried adding cereal to her formula and her stomach couldn't handle it and she screamed all night. She's 12 weeks this Thursday, EFF and currently on Zantac. She was constantly fussy, whiney, smacking her tongue, spitting up, grunting, always seemed like she was chewing on something and waking up through the night. After 3 days on Zantac she has been sleeping about 8 hours straight through.
Did Prevacid change any other babies' poop, either in frequency or consistency? We switched from Zantac to Prevacid on Thursday, and while I'm finally seeing improvement his poops have been much different since then- more frequent, different colour, and different consistency. He's EBF and I know it could just be a coincidence, but just wondering if anyone else noticed this as well.
It took 2 days to see improvements with zantac. My baby is all smiles all day now. I want to believe that is what is helping and not that all of a sudden his colic was cured (like they say just happens one random day) night time is a different story. Every night is different. I could get 3 hour stretches or 1/2 hour stretches.....
Two stupid questions, as my baby was just diagnosed and I'm still figuring this all out:
1.) When baby spits up/vomits during a feeding, should I assume she's done eating? After this happens, she almost always makes hunger cues, but I don't want to make the spit up problem worse!
2.) For MOTN feedings, do you keep baby upright for 30 mins? I can't imagine LO falling asleep after being up for 30 mins.
Tia!
Eta: If I don't burp her and keep her upright during MOTN feedings, my LO generally goes right back down to sleep for the night, no issue. But now that I know she has reflux, I don't want to make her symptoms worse!
@Cecilbear 1) when my lo spits up, he is typically done eating for that time. If your lo still makes hunger cues then you can try a little bit more, but don't overdo it. She is probably fool.
2) My LO sleeps in a RNP, so after the MOTN feeding I just put him back down. As long as your LO is okay with what your already doing than I wouldn't change. It's really just trial and error, like with all things with baby's.
How often do you all have to increase the med dosage. LO is on prevacid and weaning off of zantac. I feel like every week I'm calling to increase the dose
For those doing cereal in the bottle, how many bottles a day are you adding it? All? We currently do 2 out of 5/6 but I'm considering adding a 3rd. Not sure if that's too much.

Our pedi said 2 a day with rice, but the GI specialist said every bottle with oatmeal (less binding). Tbsp per 2 oz but we don't use that much, more like 1 tsp per 2 oz
How did you all know to make the switch to Prevacid? I feel like the Zantac isn't helping as much as it should
We just weren't seeing a big difference. His general fussiness between feedings decreased, but he was still back arching, fighting at the breast, spitting up, etc. Our doctor made the call and we saw big improvement on Prevacid.
@Holljade as @strawberrytree said we had. More fussiness, so they made the switch. I don't know if it's helping though. He still has pain when spitting which is every feed.
@jenskurn we add it to every bottle, but not 2 tsp per oz because it binds him up.

Thanks, ill try this one tonight.

If only they could talk to tell us what's wrong.
