S14 August Siggy Challenge.....ALL OF THE ALCOHOLS

Re: Unpopular Opinion
My UO: If America is cool with making marriage a social experiment but not with legalizing gay marriage, we are FUCKED. UP. Marriage isn't an experiment. And if you think that it makes more sense to allow this bullshit, I don't want to be your friend. Even at all. WHY ISN'T THIS ILLEGAL?! UGH.

Glad I'm not the only one who was annoyed with this show. Like you I haven't seen it, but I saw the commercials and knew I couldn't watch it. I feel sad for the people on that show that are ok with this.
My UO: If I'm pregnant in the middle of summer and the A/C at work goes down for a few hours and the room goes up 4 degrees don't you dare complain if I'm not. I'm not talking normal complaints to get it fixed, I'm talking walking around the department like it's the Gobi desert. It was only like 76 in here. I get that isn't comfortable, but get a glass of cold water shut up and do your work!

Speaking of shows... I watched the show "It Takes a Church", and I don't really like it. While the church may be a decent place to find a man/ woman, I don't think it is okay to make a gameshow out of church. I feel like it just completely takes away from the real reason for being at church, to me at least.
As a TN resident, school counselor with a drug and alcohol counseling certification (and former outpatient drug and alcohol counselor for women), and pregnant woman, I see all sides of this. As a counselor, do I believe incarceration is the best form of treatment for an addiction? Absolutely not. But, I also don't think mandatory residential or outpatient treatment is effective. Overcoming an addiction is 100% a personal decision. No law will change that.
That being said, DCS was already being called when babies were born addicted to drugs. This would lead to a mandatory investigation and referral for treatment after a drug and alcohol screening. The Safe Harbor act prevented DCS from removing the children due to addiction alone in an effort to protect addicts and give them an opportunity to get 'better'.
Last year alone, there were 855 reported cases of drug-addicted babies born in TN. Clearly, Safe Harbor Act wasn't working. When you're looking at the 3rd highest infant mortality rate in the country, you have to make a choice...and I think choosing to try ANYTHING to save these babies is absolutely worth it. Arrest away.

I worked in a completely free rehabilitation program for women. We even offered inpatient where you could bring your children. Mandatory rehab is not the answer. And free services are already being provided. But the only people who take advantage are the people who want it. No law is going to make someone no longer an addict. So why not at least protect the baby from the mother?
Besides, the charge is simple assault. Which is precisely what it is.

My UO based on the delivery room thread is that I totally don't mind a crowd of my family at the birth of my children. I had everyone there holding my legs and hands for DSs birth and I plan to do it that way again this time.

Stupid UO today but my drive to work it made me angry. If I want to be stupid and speed in the left lane that is my choice, get out of the way. Going 65 in a 65 mph zone in the left lane is beyond annoying.
S14 August Siggy Challenge.....ALL OF THE ALCOHOLS
As long as you are passing the cars to your right if you are going with the flow of every other lane you don't need to be in the left lane.
I often just try to say, I don't know what is going on with the person behind me. I have seen to many people lose it completely or I think they could be rushing to get to someone who is hurt, the left lane should be there for that. It kills me MOST when people are just ho humming it along in the left lane and they fail to notice the cop behind them trying to get somewhere. Be aware of your surroundings people!!!
I try to comment on all of them in the hopes that the random intro will turn into someone sticking around and participating, instead of posting hi! And never showing up again. THAT pisses me off
TL;DR Taking care of animals is awesome, but we should also take care of other people.
