@lisaren I hate condiments! Ketchup, mayo, mustard, etc...they are all gross! I think I even spent the first 20+ years of my life eating salads without dressing. Eew.
Fake fingernails weird me out. The long ones. And neon nail polish. No.
Me too!! I always wonder how those women that get fake nails and leave them super long (like still with a bit a bend/curl) do anything with their hands.
I think this is a uo and confession all wrapped up. I do not get celebrity obsessions. Following who is doing what or who, reading tabloids, watching entertainment shows to keep up with them, etc... However I cried when I found out Paul Walker died. I knew nothing about his life still don't but I enjoyed watching his movies. Even the bad ones cause that man was hot.
I can't stand fake fingernails either! I think they must get so dirty and they really are so cheap looking and those salons smell so bad.
And I wouldn't call myself a celebrity obsessed person but I do check out TMZ online, I have never bought a celebrity magazine like Us Weekly or something.
Hmmm my UO is that I find Robert Patterson repulsive... like even in the movies when he is all done up I still feel like he would smell.
@lisaren I hate condiments! Ketchup, mayo, mustard, etc...they are all gross! I think I even spent the first 20+ years of my life eating salads without dressing. Eew.
Huh? I cannot comprehend this! Especially about mustard!
I don't think e-cigs are a big deal and most of the outrage surrounding them is drummed up by big tobacco companies worried about losing revenue.
Ok maybe i don't totally buy into the conspiracy theory part, but this is UO.
I can't stand the flavored ones. My BIL smokes all those fruity/fun flavors and they're so disgustingly fake that they make me want to hurl. We drove in my minivan with him and his gf last fall to the beach (12 hours) and he thought it was okay to smoke fruity pebbles the entire way down. I about lost it on him.
My uo: I cannot stand the "what do you judge" thread. Eww. I just can't.
Eta: I feel like 90% of the judgements on there are pure ignorance for other people's circumstances.
BUT, I think it's safe to say that people who don't like nachos totally deserve to be judged.
Naked baby pictures on Facebook, or any other social media, are tacky, nasty, and should never be posted.
OMGSH I HATE THAT SO MUCH. I am weirded out by it all. I won't open bathtime videos my sisters send me of my nieces or nephews either. I completely understand that I would be 100% comfortable changing diapers or giving a bath to them. I don't need it captured and posted to the internet...
I have a very serious one today...
Dr. Seuss stuff is super creepy and it is not welcome in our home.
Richard Scarry stuff, on the other hand, is the bees knees
Disagree! Love Dr. Seuss. It's our nursery theme and my baby shower theme
I don't think e-cigs are a big deal and most of the outrage surrounding them is drummed up by big tobacco companies worried about losing revenue.
Ok maybe i don't totally buy into the conspiracy theory part, but this is UO.
E-cigs are bad. A lot are actually funded by tobacco companies as a way to diversify. Also, they are so new we don't know much about them, but studies on them so far have shown that the nicotine level (or lack thereof) is not always what is stated. For example, it may be labeled as "low nicotine" and have high levels, and vise versa. So rather than help the patient slowly taper off e-cigs, it keeps them addicted.
Also, cigarette smoke contains over 5,000 chemicals, 40 of which are known carcinogens. We still dont' know everything that is in an e-cig vapor, but there have been 5 carcinogens found thus far.
Sorry...I teach smoking cessation classes so I read up on the e-cigs pretty often!
Edit: I will add that if a person absolutely, truly wants to use them, I'd rather them use e-cigs than continue to smoke, but I don't think they are truly safe. Also, I've had people in my group smoking cessation classes now addicted to e-cigs looking to quit!
MY UO: I think a nursery should look like any other bedroom in the house and not super cute or babyish, at least until my child has an opinion of how they might want to decorate.
TTC 3/2012; IUI 2/26/14; EDD 11/23/14; DD born 11/21/14!!!
My uo: I cannot stand the "what do you judge" thread. Eww. I just can't.
Eta: I feel like 90% of the judgements on there are pure ignorance for other people's circumstances.
My UO.. Is that I don't agree with the above statement. Our society has evolved where making excuses, big or small or even for unfortunate circumstances is ok, and often times this leads to kids growing up to be adults (assuming there's no medical reasons) with poor decision making skills or life skills. Many of the "judgements" involved no ignorance. Smoking when pregnant, making poor health/food choices for kids, and so many others are common sense. If someone wants to make that choice for themselves or their kid.. Then rock on... But don't try to play the "everyone else is being ignorant" card when it leads to judgement. It's life.. We are all going to get judged for one thing or another -- and if you are confident in your decision, then the judgements shouldn't bother you. Who cares what everyone else thinks. (Btw.. By you I don't mean YOU -- just generally speaking.) As I've said, to each their own.
I can honestly say I do not judge others just by a visual. Yep, I'm that fuckin awesome.
I can't understand that. Not saying you are lying, just saying I cannot fathom that. I feel like everyone makes judgements. Not necessarily negative ones or positive even. We evaluate and we are judging all the time. As much as I try not to have that color my thoughts, at times I recognize that it has and I try to stop myself but I'd by lying if I said there weren't time I didn't realize it until much later. Maybe you are just referring to negative judgements?
My uo: I cannot stand the "what do you judge" thread. Eww. I just can't.
Eta: I feel like 90% of the judgements on there are pure ignorance for other people's circumstances.
I find this statement interesting only because I am unclear on how the judging thread really varies significantly from UO or FFFC or even Bitchfest, sometimes.
I feel like some of the same themes have cropped up in all 4.
Also, the thread could be an opportunity for someone to view their issue from another perspective and perhaps become a reformed, umm, judger?
Finally, didn't people want a little more spice around here?
You've said this better than I could have imagined!! I was shocked this thread ruffled so many feathers when we throw judgement around here left and right with so many of the WEEKLY above mentioned threads.
Let's all no longer judge newbies... Cuz who knows what their reasoning is for comin on here randomly and jumping into posting their own thread before lurking long enough...Or asking us to name their child or determine the sex... I judge others who judge on convenience.

My DH had a tobacco "flavor" that smelled like honey. I have a weird aversion to the smell of honey, so that made me gag. Other than that, though, I've never smelled or smoked the fruity ones. (Note: I don't smoke anything, but have tried DH's in the past).

Good information!
N14 Nov. Siggy: CELEBRATION!
TTC since 2011
Aug. - Sept. 2013 - dIUIs = BFNs
January 2014 - IVF = 3 freezer babies
March 2014 - FET of AA and AB blast = BFP! Twins!
Nov. 7, 2014 - Wilhelmina "Willa" Suzanne (4lb 14oz) and Ari Jose (6lb 4oz) were born via CS
I find it REALLY weird when people refer to me as "Momma". I get it--and it's sweet they are excited for me and happy for me, but it's just really weird to me. Like, when I got married no one started calling me "Wifey"...
MY UO: I think a nursery should look like any other bedroom in the house and not super cute or babyish, at least until my child has an opinion of how they might want to decorate.
I'm more or less decorating mine with what I like and not at all babyish. After all, the babies aren't going to care what the room looks like for a long time. I will!

Isn't judging a negative feeling though?
I mean yes I see people with beautiful skin and think that's beautiful! But to me that's a positive. If I see somebody with bad skin I don't assume they're dirty. I don't focus on the negatives in any situation. Or rather the Different.
To me different equals no less or better. It means just different. Different from what I know In my world. My conditioning. My own assumptions of what normal is.

Yeah, I think it is the way we are both thinking of judgement. To you, that word is a negative. To me, that word can be a positive (e.g. judging someone to be beautiful!). I guess I see it from the negative definition, but I still think everyone does it subconsciously just some do it more overtly and willingly than others.
For example, when I am alone at night and I see a man, I get scared. I hate that I do, but I do. That's a negative judgement, right? I'd be lying if I said that the way they are dressed can make me more or less scared, because it does. I hate that I feel that way, but I can't shake it.
I see that as fear. A fight or flight response. But if you were raised an a environment where men and dark streets were your norm you would not think twice, right?
My UO is that I love the soap General Hospital, I have been watching it daily since I was in junior high and would honestly cry if it got cancelled!
I also am obsessed with Big Brother... Currently watching last nights episode right now!
I love condiments, my DH always makes fun of me and says I always over condiment my burgers because it gets so messy! I also think mayo goes with everything!! Especially fries!!

SS hated condiments when he came to live with us, he would only use ketchup.....he always asks for extra everything now and puts mayo on his fries!! The kid will eat ranch on anything!
My UO - If you're going to use real dishes at work it's really gross to leave them soaking on the counter for days instead of just washing them. Oatmeal bowls sitting there for a week are nasty. Eew. :-&

I thought of another. I don't like orange is the new black. I've tried. I think I have made it through 1/2-3/4 of the first season and I just can't get into it. I think it is unnecessarily vulgar which is unfortunately most tv these days.
My UO is that I don't mind if my husband says "we're pregnant" and I think it's kinda cute. He's had some sympathy symptoms (fatigue and major cravings) and he's always great about taking care of me and recognizing what I and my body go through. I know he has a deeper respect for me as well after carrying our fist child. It's kind of a joke now that we say to each other "we're pregnant".
My UO: I want someone to start a circumcision* thread on here but I'm afraid to because I know it will turn into a shit show.
*husband calls it the circum-decision
Start one! I would be interested to read opinions.
Reading this thread and the judgment thread my UO is that I get annoyed by people who always want to justify someone else's bad behavior/stupid decisions/annoying habit - whatever. People do stupid/annoying things. Sometimes there is a legitimate explanation. Sometimes not. I don't care and I don't need someone trying to justify that person's behavior.

I completely understand what you are saying. What I am saying is you have no idea why someone might give their child juice or be at target at 10 pm. It's absolutely ridiculous that someone thinks a parent is a bad parent for choices like these
Eta: my son has never had juice of any kind. And also has a pretty strict bedtime schedule.
It makes me sad when people lose their individual identity when they take on a new role, especially in parenthood. It also makes me sad when people don't account for their new roles in their individual identity.
I don't mean the year or so it takes to really adjust, but multiple years.

I've never said doing those things makes anyone a bad parent. And FWIW, I don't have an issue with juice (coke/caffeinated drinks -- totaly diffeernt story in my book) or being out late with your kid once in a while. Whatever works for the parent. But that doesn't mean others won't have their own opinions.
Really, this "you don't know why they made that choice or what their reason is" theory can be applied to anything. Why do killers kill? Why do child molesters exist? Maybe they were brought up in a violent environment or victims themselves and it led to that lifestyle as an adult. Does that make killing ok? Mollesting? Hell no. I don't care what the reason was. Obviously those are extremes to express a point.
