vent: irritated with Amazon.com (NSAIFR)

I'm so p!ssed at Amazon (and usually I love them). I ordered a bunch of Christmas gifts from there and most were ok, but 2, which were guaranteed delivery for Christmas, only arrived yesterday. Their way to resolve the issue? Give me my $5 shipping back. Gee, that makes up for it. But whatever.

Today, though, I am not amused. I also ordered the complete Harry Potter adult, hardcover, UK collection for DH (yes, we're big nerds). It's a collectors edition set, pretty fancy and cost me $150(ish). It arrived today, packed so poorly and really beat up and the box that the books are displayed in is ruined. I'm sorry, but if I spend that kind of money on a collectors set, I want it to look like a damn collection, not like something I picked up at a garage sale. Argh! I know they'll exchange it, but then I have to f*ck with sending this big heavy box back to Germany and I just don't have the energy. SO p!ssed!!!

is it direct from amazon or from one of their sellers? either way- i would complain- and $5 is NOT good enough!

my sister had an order cancelled the day it was supposed to arrive - for xmas... it was with one of their sellers. She complained to Amazon and got $10 credit to use. At least it's something.

we use them all the time and have never had an issue- that sucks!

I wonder if something is up with them??!

I ordered a carseat through them and when it showed up, it had punched through the box. It really should have been reinforced or packaged better. I sent it back-- and we're going with another seat.

I am a amazon seller, I mostly sell toys.

Make sure you purchase from Amazon not one of their sellers, sellers sell stuff that could be used, I buy all my books through amazon sellers b/c they are cheap but not always the best condition. Amazon seller are people who do this out fo their home. When it says collectors set, make sure you read a description b/c we are allowed to put collectors in the description if it is no longer made.

The guareenteed by christmas was for purchases made from amazon itself not from it's sellers, sellers are expected to ship within 2 days of the order not immediately. I know it is deceiving, but people do not realize they are purchasing from sellers that are NOT amazon itself. Must read the descriptions on the item to see where it will be coming from, that is one thing I hate about amazon that they do not explain that better. I have many people shocked I sell on amazon b/c they always thought they were buying directly from amazon not independent sellers.

Please be aware some sellers do not package well enough, their are some out there that do not care (I am not one of them - I hate refunding so I am accurate as possible on everything), but we can not control how the Post Office or UPS handles the item once we drop it off, I once took a package that said FRAGILE all over it and the worker still threw it across the room into the bin with me watching right there! Yes the Postal workers are not always the greatest, of course the new post office I go to they are wonderful!

Sorry this happened to you! It can be frustating sometimes.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, JLB. Some of the gifts I bought from Amazon were from sellers. They weren't guaranteed to arrive on time, but all of them did. The package that arrived late (but in tact) was directly from Amazon, which is why I was so surprised that it was late. The books came from Amazon.co.uk - they were direct from Amazon as well, not through a seller. The books are still in print, just kind of hard to come by. They clearly would've been fine if they had been packaged better. The box got seriously beat up on it's trip overseas, but I just feel like they should've been able to foresee that, you know? Ugh.

That is annoying! Amazon's shipping is kind of weird. I ordered the Twilight series boxed set for a friend last week. It was out of stock and set to ship in 4 to 7 weeks -- but it was delivered yesterday!

I ordered Eli a bunch of gifts from Amazon directly and the one I really wanted came damaged. I was so sad. I sent it back for exchange and then got an email today that it won't ship for 7 weeks. Grrr.
