What the fuck happened? Why did two people who haven't posted in the better half of a month suddenly need to have their accounts deleted? What do mods have to do about it? PM if absolutely needed, but I am dying to know what the hell is going on.

I have no doubt that there are shades of grey and it could both be stuff going on in people's personal lives combined with whatever else happened on board/with mods that could make someone want to check out of here. But, I think that going the fuck off (unless you're going to go the fuck off on a specific person who wronged you and name names) on people who you don't really know anything much about and with whom you don't really interact is bullshit. I don't think it means that there's a 'board police' or 'we've all gone soft' or 'we just don't respect the old regs', I think it means that there are new regs here. And when you go away and rarely come back, then things do change. Maybe better, maybe worse, but I think if almost anyone else had made that post there would have been a much bigger bonfire right off the bat.

I think that a certain person (who was not a banned party, I'm pretty sure) going the fuck off on Joy and saying that she's a reason that maybe those people wanted to leave and inferring that she's part of the problem was bullshit in its entirety. (If I need to delete that because it's too close to a call out, I will, but I tried to be careful there) Joy's just the first person who spoke up. Maybe that's me being a WK.

I mean, you want your account deleted, that's groovy for you. But being bitchy to uninvolved parties just seems like a crap way to leave. Either fade out and whomever is actually close to you can get in touch, say you're leaving for personal reasons, or go out in a blaze of names and glory.

Mainly, I'm nosy, so when someone starts posting like that I immediately check post history and start trying to figure out what happened. That's interesting to me.

I'll sleep, but also, all of this. I mean, what information was actually being provided? That some mods abuse their mod powers, sometimes on boards that aren't their own. That's been happening. That mods apparently have access to info that they shouldn't or we were told they wouldn't have access to? Well, that's a big claim, so if there was info to back it up, put it in the OP. And why come back here, where they haven't been? Just to get some warm fuzzies about leaving before totally having no problem going off on people to get banned?

No actual info was in any part of the thread that I saw.

This. I just want to point out that they were both huge, active members on this board for a long time. I think they deserved to be able to say goodbye.

I've been on for only a little over a month so I don't know them too well and honestly didn't see them post too much. I agree if they were big members and close to ppl here a goodbye is good because people become close and if they fall of some may worry, but the way it all went down seemed to be a little dramatic and kind of AW ish.

It could of been as simple as "I enjoyed my time here but due to personal issues I need to leave it's been nice talking to you all" or whatever something like that not trying to cause drama and leave a bunch of questions unanswered. KWIM?

I mean, I think that them saying goodbye is not what a lot of posters had an issue with. I think anyone who's been here that long should totally get to say goodbye if that's what they want to do. It was the vague-bumping and then the weird attack mode.

For the record, I totally understand why kiki would be saying goodbye (of course I didn't really piece it together until way after the OP). What she's going through sounds terribly stressful and sad and I understand why she wouldn't want to be on a TTC board anymore. And, you know what, I don't think you have to give a reason other than that you've decided this place isn't for you. But the way it was done was not fantastic.

ETA: And if they wanted to leave with an actual drama bomb where they said what they meant about the whole mod/Bump abuse of power business, then I would have enjoyed that tremendously for the 10 minutes it was up as well. That's also a great goodbye. But it was all so wishy-washy.

Honestly it sucks if you guys weren't around when they were regs. They helped make TTC more bearable when it sucked. They definitely made this a better place. Sounds like there were things outside of this board they were talking about, not specifically TTGP.

I don't really see how it is being AWish to announce to a board you've been on for years you are leaving. Something obviously happened and they wanted out fast. They've been around long enough to know how to make that happen.

I think what the major thought here is that it's totally cool they wanted to do that, but
A. They haven't posted in two months-- this board has such a big turnover, that's like a lifetime ago. Honestly, I've been on this board about six months and byegirlbye doesn't look familiar to me.
B. why be so oddly dramatic about it? Either call people out, or just say your good byes. Why did they have to tell a community of people who don't really know them that they all suck?
