Trying to Get Pregnant

Feeling a little overwhelmed...a few questions

I have been doing a lot of reading on TTC. When we started I really did not know where to start. I started with the FF just to track when it predicted my most fertile days to be. We tried 3 cycles of that. We are now in the 4th cycle of TTC, and I used the clearblue ovulation test. I am now in the TWW. I guess my question is am I doing enough? Should I be tracking temperature also? I really don't know where to start with that. I have tried to talk with my husband about all of these things, and although he is excited about TTC. He looks at me like I am crazy when I start talking about the most fertile days, etc.... Just feeling a little overwhelmed today. Thanks for letting me vent.

@excited2see‌ If you use FF to track your period only, it will still give you a fertile week and an estimated O day. It becomes just like any old period tracking app then.

You should definitely start temping. I'm not really sure how FF was helping you predict fertile days when you weren't even temping.

If you do opks, FF still gives you estimated fetile days. It's what I was going off of for 2 cycles, before I started temping this one.
OP, is that what you've been doing, opks?
What the ladies above say is correct, temping really is the best way to actually figure out when your O timeframe is, if you're even ovulating at all. Otherwise it's just a guess.

I should also add that if you're using FF and not temping then it makes the app pretty useless. OP - out of all the things you could be doing, temping is probably the most important. OPKs only tell you that you *might* O soon. Some women have multiple surges (what your OPK picks up on) each cycle. Unless you temp, you can't be sure you're actually hitting your FW.

  • I was just using putting in my period information. This was giving me a predicted fertile week. It was just a starting point for me.
  • Temping will give you more information than just OPKs.  It's done in hindsight but, assuming you have somewhat regular cycles, it will also help you (and FF) to predict your upcoming fertile days as well.  After 2 cycles of temping for me I was able to get a pretty good idea of when my next fertile window would be.

Using only OPKs you will be able to know if you might ovulate in the next day or two, temping will confirm if you did in fact ovulate.  You can get several positive OPKs a month and not ovulate, which is where the temping would come in handy.  Since you are already using fertility friend it's pretty easy to do: take your temp when you wake up before you get out of bed, put the temp into FF, and it will tell you when you O'd.  It can tell you this with ONLY temping, but using OPKs in conjunction with temping will make FF more confident.
  • Temping seemed overwhelming to me at first, but everyone here assured me - and in turn I will assure you - it becomes second nature very quickly. And the amount of feedback FF has taught me so much about my body and this process.

  • Yes to temping. No to talking to your husband about temping. Good luck!

  • Temping is easier than it seems at first. My husband has an interest in it but he doesn't need the day by day update. Just the general update of when I get crosshairs or if my temp does something particularly noteworthy.

    Good luck!
