Chicco Echo

Anyone have thoughts on this stroller?  I really have absolutely know idea what to even look for in a stroller. Do we need to get something else more heavy duty?

I don't really plan to do any jogging with the stroller.  FTM.  We live in town, so paved roads but it would be alright if it maneuvered well on gravel just in case.  I want to be able to use it with a newborn but don't necessarily want/need our infant carrier to snap on.  Other than that I really have no idea what to even look for in a stroller.

I don't want something huge and heavy that is going to be a huge pain to drag in and out of a car trunk.

  • I used that stroller while nannying. It's a good stroller, very sturdy. I used it with a 3 year old though. It's not ideal for a newborn. I'm not even sure if the company says it's safe for newborns. It's basically just a nice umbrella stroller.

People here have told me the opposite - that Chicco is not the best and can be flimsy after a few years.  I guess it depends how long you intend to use it and how much.  For example, are you more in the city, going on lots of walks, etc., or are you using it more to get LO from point a to b?  In the first scenario I'd assume it would break down quicker, but in the second it could be fine for your needs.  I've heard better things about the Britax lines than Chicco FWIW.

  • We have chicco for our travel stroller, and it has held up well, but there is definitely a difference in the quality of the "push" from higher end brands (we recently got a baby jogger city select and love it).  As others have said, if you think you'll use it everyday it might be worth spending a bit more for something with a smoother ride (both for baby and for the ease of pushing/maneuvering),  but if you plan to use it only occasionally, than the calculation is different.

I'd suggest going to a store and taking a few for a spin, you can defintiely feel the difference.
