was just reading on another board's post that said that tcoyf recommends seeing a dr. after 4-6 months of charting and trying, and i am on cycle 5 and no bfp yet, so i was just wondering how long it took women who were actually pregnant.
started ttc in'07- elevated fsh, 3 failed cycles of clomid, 4 failed iui's
miracle bfp 1/23/10 while waiting for insurance to clear to start ivf!

Re: how many cycles did it take for bfp?
4-6 months? Are you kidding me? You do realize it can take a normal couple up to a year on average to get pregnant, right?
I went in to see an RE at 6 months because I was over 35 and they want to see you after 6 months at that age.
It took us 19 cycles to get pregnant.
*barf*
Your family has nothing to do with it.
We were TTC for 7 months, the first 6 I was just charting cm and af dates. I started charting my temps last month and got my bfp my first month charting. I have heard if you have good timing and chart so you know you ovulate for sure then you (or DH) should go talk to a doctor. GL
With DD, 3 cycles. With this one, 4 cycles. I charted all three cycles with DD, but only this past cycle with #2.
It took me 24 cycles.
I saw my OB after 6 months and shortly thereafter consulted with an RE.
i know! that is what i thought, and was not getting worked up with the bfn's each month b/c i knew it was not very long. then, i just read that other post and saw that they were quoting from tcoyf and got nervous...
Ditto. I know it's frustrating, but you've got plenty of time. Most doctors will not even see you until you've been trying for at least a year. If you're not charting or using OPKs, I highly recommend doing/using both.
Previous pregnancy took 2 cycles - I was lucky as heck, especially for my age.
DD was 2nd cycle off BCP.
Pregnancy #2 was 6 cycles (ended in miscarriage).
This time it was 2nd cycle after m/c.
Good luck.
1st cycle off bcp.
but her family has breeding hips like horse (said in dramatic Russian accent). ?double barf!?
LMAO. It's always the damn breeders who have smug comments like that too. And the comment about "just looking at sperm", hold my hair.
I got pregnant my 1st cycle off bcp, but m/c that pregnancy shortly thereafter. We got pregnant with this child on the 2nd cycle after the m/c.
I feel very blessed.
thanks for all the responses, ladies! hopefully all my charting will pay off soon and i will be back anxiously expecting a baby!
gl to you all - h+h 9 months!
1st pregnancy--after TTC 18 months, via IUI (m/c)
2nd pregnancy--after TTC 25 months, via IVF (m/c)
3rd pregnancy--after TTC 30 months, via IVF (m/c)
4th pregnancy--after TTC 37 months, on a break cycle (praying this one sticks)
ETA: we waited 13 months to see an RE--there was no reason to believe we had any medical problems and our infertility is still unexplained. Are you charting? Do you know if you're ovulating?
2nd cycle with charting.
How are you charts looking? Are you Oing? Keep trucking along if so and hopefully the beginning of 2009 brings you your BFP! GL!
20 months = 18 cycles
charting for 15 of those. Under care of an RE for 13 months.

With dd: 6 cycles (8 months), charted for 3
This time: 2nd cycle, no charting
It must.....I am over 35.
well, the sperm one i can't get on board with. ?i got knocked up once just skimming through my high school biology text book...hehe?
*hugs* I've got my fingers crossed for you that this baby sticks.
I have a large extended family. And being that I am over 35, I consider myself lucky, not smug to have gotten pregnant after 1 cycle. I think it is in the genes.
For DD I was on BCP when we got PG. For this pregnancy, first try.

It doesn't, believe me. Your family's fertility, yes even your mother's, has nothing to do with your own. Fertility or infertility isn't hereditary. Nice try though.
And what does being 35 have anything to do with it? I am over 35 as well. One of my best friends got KU her second month trying at 40. She was lucky, as were you, but heredity has nothing to do with it.
