  • @Wine&Cupcakes‌, Pom juice is said to thicken uterine lining. You are supposed to drink it before ovulation. It won't hurt after ovulation, but it won't help either. There's really no real evidence it works at all, but if you enjoy drinking it it doesn't hurt.

Ah I see! I fall in the camp that I don't buy into the non-proven stuff, but if I did it, I'm sure that mentally it would somehow be beneficial for my state of mind.

I'm also a superstitious date person so that would probably help/hurt my mental state on that cycle as well.

    Rant/rave/chart stalk:
I took a week off of temping during my period/holiday travel and went to start up again this morning and my thermometer's battery is just about dead, to the point where I couldn't even get the display to stay on for more than two seconds.  Sigh.  I only bought it six months ago.  Should I replace the batteries or just buy a new thermometer?  It's a CVS brand BBT.  I don't have time to order from amazon since I'm already on CD8, so I'd have to go out and get it somewhere locally.

GTKY: we are all smart ladies here - but is their any TTC myth or trick you use to help your odds?
No.  Unless you count OPKs, which really help me to know when to expect ovulation.  I had a hard time having sex EOD while waiting for a temp rise.  But OPKs aren't a
    myth or trick IMO.

I vote for another CVS cheapie. My only wish for those is that they remembered the previous temp...if I had a dollar for every time I read the temp and then went back to sleep and forgot...

What we are doing to get knocked up - we had our IUI yesterday( on our boys 7 th birthday) how's that for some divine planning/intervention? I'm really trying to think positive! I didn't respond to the clomid, but we had one good looking follicle(19) and triggered Friday night, my SIL was maybe a little too excited to do the honors. So I started my progesterone today and I have some pineapple core staring at me in the fridge. Temp went up a little today but I'll wait for CH to move over to 2WW.

Rants\Rave kids wanna go to the pool today and it's supposed to be in the 90's , I'm super scared of looking like I pee'd in the pool if the progesterone comes out

Rant/rave/chart stalk: I am so  thankful to all the people on here who encourage temping. This is the first month that I actually know my ovulation date because of doing it. I am not happy that I didn't ovulate until CD 25, but at least I know now that our timing has prob been WAY off and I may have been getting LH surges earlier but not ovulating until later. Good to know. I am traveling with MH this month and we are going to try and have sex ED or at least EOD once I am in my FW.

GTKY: we are all smart ladies here - but is their any TTC myth or trick you use to help your odds? I may take Mucinex this month if O is later to thin things out if I notice CM is getting thick like it usually does as it gets later in the cycle for me.

Rant/rave/chart stalk:  I didn't get to temp this morning (MH woke me up for morning sex...not a bad thing when I thought today would be O day!!) but that means I didn't get to temp.  I went back to bed for 2.5 hours and when I got up I temped just to see.  Any idea on if I should just pitch it? It was 3 hours later than I usually temp.  In good news...I got my first +OPK yesterday! I did it 3 times yesterday and all positive.  Did another today and still positive.  I was really hoping today would be O day so MH and I can take a break from scheduled sex! Opinions welcomed!!!!

  • @Wine&Cupcakes mine did remember the previous temp.  You just hold down the power button for a few seconds and it will show on the screen.  When you let go it disappears and just goes to the L.

Thanks for the input!  I am leaning toward just buying another of the same so hopefully the readings will be comparable to my previous charts.  It's probably easier to buy a new one than to replace the batteries, too.

Now I feel like an idiot for not knowing that...but grateful that you told me! My chart will thank you!

Am I the only one who's going to admit to sticking my feet in the air? Because I definitely did that the first month or two. I had it on great authority from a random acquaintance that it would work instantly. Oh, and I was all about the full moon since the first few months we were trying had full moons on CD 14 so I thought I ovulated with the full moon and that made me more fertile.
I have a master's degree and I believed that bullshit (the internet encourages these things). I've got some pineapple core in the freezer now, but only because we had pineapple two weeks ago and we'd normally just throw it out.

@mrsberg9282013‌ - maybe I'll try pineapple core mixed in. I really hate even the slightest taste of it, but it might be worth a shot. What are you doing to get pregnant? BBT, CM, finally received the OPKs i ordered from Amazon Saturday; planning to start using them tonight.  EOD sex until O confirmed.

Rant/rave/chart stalk: I have watery CM right now and i don't know why.  On Sunday morning i thought it was left over from Saturday night sex, but it continued this morning.  I don't think i should O until this weekend at the earliest, so i don't know what's going on...but it's my second cycle off of BCPs so anything is possible i guess.  I don't have a good baseline to work from yet.  my temps are very consistent though, which is a plus.

GTKY: we are all smart ladies here - but is their any TTC myth or trick you use to help your odds?   nothing weird i don't think.

General question because i've never used OPKs before: i was planning to test when i got home from work each night starting around CD10 every cycle...is there a downside to testing in the evening as opposed to the morning?  I just feel like the morning will stress me out, because our weekday mornings are super busy and rushed as it is, so if i got a positive i wouldn't be able to have sex until that night anyway, and i'd drive myself crazy all day wondering if putting off sex for a few hours was going to be a dealbreaker.  If i test at night and get a positive, i can start having sex immediately, or at least plan ahead to have some extra time the following morning if necessary.  thoughts?
  • CytheCythe member
@delujm0 many women find it best to stock up on cheap OPKs so they can use them multiple times a day if they have a short surge or perhaps they just really like to pee on a stick.

Personally, I have better luck getting my surge by testing in the evening. I think this is just one of those things that is different for each person. I believe the only thing you should NOT do, is use first morning urine. Other then that, I think evening testing is just fine (again, unless you have a short surge, then only testing once a day might make you miss it).

  • Back from a long weekend away - hope you all had a great Fourth! :)

@darcyhermione - sorry you are feeling down :( Sending hugs!!!

    Cycle/Month: 7

    CD: 11

What are you doing to get pregnant?: The usual.

Rant/rave/chart stalk: Managed to get a consistent temp time during our weekend away (between 5 and 6 am, even though FF gives me an open circle one day…), but my temps themselves were weird. Big dip, big rise, big dip again. Oh well. Things should be back to normal now, and I'll start on OPKs either tonight or tomorrow.

GTKY: we are all smart ladies here - but is their any TTC myth or trick you use to help your odds?: Not really, though I have added pre-ovulation green tea, and plan on making pomegranate blueberry smoothies for breakfast this week (expect to O this weekend). Also using the whole "full fat dairy helps!" idea as an excuse to eat a lot of cheese.

  • Thanks @cythe!

I did just receive a pack of 50 Wondfos...so i think i'll just test at night this month, and if my temp spikes and i somehow missed my surge with night testing, next month i'll try twice a day.  SMU would be easier than FMU for me anyway, because i go to the gym first thing in the morning almost immediately after i wake up so i wouldn't have time to deal with it until i got back from my workout anyway or i'd miss my 6am class. :-)

  • @delujm0 ~ I personally have the best luck getting my positive OPKs with second morning urine. But, it took a while of me testing multiple times a day to find that out. People advised me to test multiple times a day, like SMU, early afternoon and evening until you figure out when your own personal surge is best detected. Even though I have had the best luck with SMU, I still test multiple times a day, because it is not the same for every cycle with me.

  • mrsberg9282013.  SMU is an option for me but i'd like to avoid it because i know i would worry all day after getting a positive that i couldn't act on until after work that night!  Though i will probably test SMU on weekends because i could actually do something about it then.  And if nights don't pick up my surge, i'll move it around a bit.  thanks for the advice!

Also, i forgot to mention this earlier, but i'm going to a birthing class with a friend tonight (her husband is "estranged" from her at this point i think is the best way to put it) and i'm hoping that it doesn't scare me out of TTC for a while. I told her that i have my fingers crossed to concieve this month so that when i'm present at the birth i can't be like "ooooh never mind i don't want to do this ever" because it will be too late for me to do anything about it at that point. ;-)

  • @deluim0 ~ Getting a positive OPK means that you are likely to O sometime in the near future (12hours for some, 72 for others), so you don't necessarily need to have sex right when you get one. But testing multiple times a day can help avoid missing that LH surge that tells you that your body is gearing up for that O in the next 12-72ish hours. For me, I have gotten 3 days of positive OPKs before an actual temp spike. Everyone is different obviously, but it is not generally something you have to "deal with" as soon as you turn an OPK as far as I know.
