Re: Newbie with outside babies questions thread!

  • What brand of diapers are working for you? We are using disposables until he is big enough for one size CDs. I was using pampers swaddlers but tried out huggies and LO has now peed out of them 3 times. We have him pointed downwards and 2x when he's leaked it's been laying on his side on the Boppy BFing. Was going to try costco diapers today but don't want to buy a ton if he will leak out of them too.

  • @whoberry‌ we used target brand with C and use them for Charlie if we need to (we already started CD with him). I love them and the only time I had issues was when she needed to go up a size.

    CSC arrived 5/7/12

    CHC arrived 6/2/14

  • @whoberry We had the same problem with Huggies, DS leaked out of them often. After trying different brands that were given to us at my shower, we love Pampers the most.

  • @whoberry Pampers swaddlers here too. Stella is still in NB size and the huggies are huge on her so it gets messy. The pampers fit perfectly.

  • We love pampers too... Over the last week we have tried Luvs, Walmart brand, huggies, and dollar general brand and she has blown out or leaked with everything but Pampers.

  • @whoberry‌ We had issues with huggies as well. Our favorite is pampers, but due to cost, we have used target brand and have been pleased. We haven't had any issues with them.

  • Coupons and sales help with the cost of Pampers.  I'm not an extreme couponer by any means, but one time I got size 1 Pampers from diapers.com for only 11 cents per diaper, rather than 20 cents per diaper.  Huge savings!  I also print a coupon on P&G's website, and use the Sunday paper coupon together to save $2.  Just something to keep an eye out for :)

  • @mrsdbc‌ FTM here but I have also seen homemade baby food stored in ice cube trays. Just something to consider!

  • @whoberry‌ also swaddlers here. H leaked out if the Huggies on the side too.

  • Mine actually leaked out of both pampers and huggies. Target works out great for us so far... Plus the price
  • We love Honest Co. Diapers. You can buy at target now

  • We use pampers if using disposable dipes. The girls are now 7 lbs and fit in their NB cloth diapers, holla!

  • I read the diaper thread earlier and thought it was funny cause Paisley is in Huggies, cause you get 3 more diapers then with pampers, and I haven't had any leaking problems until we both fell asleep on the couch and she leaked and peed on me lol I guess well be trying out pampers
  • @whoberry‌ we are currently trying the Costco brand. I don't have an opinion yet but you can return them no matter how many you've used if u don't like them.
  • LO ate, burped, and slept like a champ last night. However, this morning after his feeding he gets super fussy, which is not normal. After I change him, we are walking out to the living room and he pukes all down my sleep bra. Put him in his mamaroo so I can wash my face and change and he cries continuously. Spits up again, chunky white. Clean him up, and by this point he's hungry so I feed him burp him, and he spits up again. I've tried bicycles and more burping but he just cries and refuses to be put down. Any advice?

  • My LO is 6 weeks old... How much should she be awake during the day? I feel like she sleeps too much...

  • With my toddler when he was teething or drinks apple juice he poops acid and I swear burns his butt but its only been with those two things happening but now Paisley has a horrible diaper rash that looks just like her brothers burned butt and I swear I change her diaper all the time so I don't know if she's allergic to the diapers or formula or if its just a bad diaper rash?

My LO is five weeks old today and is pretty much sleeping if he's not eating. After some feeds he'll be awake for 10-20 minutes but he's usually not happy about it. Usually once a day he'll have an awake period of an hour or so, then he's incredibly cranky before going to sleep again.
  • @MrsBHM thanks! That's about what we've it going on, too!

Question! She is just shy of 4 weeks, but seems to prefer sleeping on my chest instead of her crib or travel crib at the foot of our bed. She can sometimes chill in the mamaroo, if on chest first.

Is this a trap and starting bad habit already?

  • @whoberry‌ another vote for Target diapers. They've held up to some pretty hefty loads my LO has left. We also have the Costco ones to try out but she's not quite big enough for those since we bought size 1 ones.

  • Today my LO got her second dose of hepatitis B shot and cried non-stop for hours. Usually my DH is really good with calming her down and putting her to sleep, but today the only thing that works is my boob. She would only sleep in my arms (after sucking on my nipples for 20 mins) and wakes up as soon as i put her down. Anyone has tricks and tips to help soothe her? She will get 4 shots next month and i am scared to death!

@Hairstylist16‌ our pedi said it could be the wipes too. LO got diaper rash like 3 days after he came home. It took about a week to get better. We switched to cloth wipes (baby wash cloths) and use a spray bottle with water when we change him. We also tried Boudreaux's butt paste and triple paste. Not sure what helped but it's 99% better now.

@otter1103‌ dh picked up costco ones that say size 1 to 2. He said they didn't have any newborn ones. Do you know if they even make newborn sizes? The weight on the box he got makes it seem like they will fit him now but I haven't opened them yet.

I have used Pampers and Huggies and like them both. I hate Luvs. They don't leak, they just smell as soon as LO has a wet diaper. I have a huge supply of Costco diapers. I'm waiting for her to get to that size.

FWIW- I believe Huggies makes Costco diapers and Pampers makes Up and Up (Target brand). I wish I could remember where I found this information.
