I'm gonna give you a pre tumor pic cause he still has a few lbs to lose from the meds he was on. #hedkillmeifhesawthese actually the one with fox was Father's Day
Fair enough to not want to see the animal (I should know that, took me a bit to get used to the hunting when I met DH). So instead here's a pic in which no animals were involved.
@Chrisanna0508 I'm veg, obvs. I think I'm known as the crazy animal lady up in here #tattooedmycatsandrabbitsonmybody #mykidsnameisFox #iwouldsnuggleagrizzlyifitletme
Those of you who take issue with the hunting pics, do you eat meat? #legitimatelycurious #nosnarkintended
I was wondering this myself.
I'm not a hunter, and DH is not a hunter, but my dad was and his whole side of the family is, so I grew up around it. And I think it's tough to say they don't do it for sport (it's not like they would starve if they didn't hunt) but they absolutely eat all of the meat.
I do have a problem with going to Africa and killing lions just for the fun of it, since usually those people aren't then consuming the lion. I don't know, maybe that makes me a hypocrite?
Anyway, all the above being said, I couldn't do it, but it doesn't bother me that others do.
I didn't grow up around anyone who hunted so it was a whole new world for me when I met DH. He'd love it if I were to start hunting I just don't think I have it in me to do it. All the meat is eaten and I know we've saved a lot of money by doing so. And as an interesting addition, not only as mentioned by @cdhaslag can meat be donated, but here in NC turkey feathers can be donated to Native American tribes for ceremonial use which I think is pretty cool.
I just wanted to add if people are hunting it to eat it then I get it. I'm with @baconface with that. But holding it up and taking a photo as a trophy makes you look like a douchecanoe. (Ya my phone just autocorrected to douchecanoe)
I eat meat and try to buy as much organic as possible because I can't stand the practices in the meat industry. I find killing anything disgusting but I understand we have to eat. I wouldn't want to see a smiling picture of someone over a slaughtered cow that I get a steak from either.
Mobile bumping won't let me #lovetit all the country boys ladies! And I am gone for day and miss a hunting discussion.....damn! But yes, looks like all our fellas would be fast friends @mancila60@awwwpuddin@lefnc82! DH loves to hunt and fish.
As far as hunting goes....yes we consume the meat. We also donate it to families in need in our local community. These families don't have the luxury of snubbing their noses at certain sources of protein like so many of us do and are elated to have it. As a side note, I grew up in a home where our source of red meat was deer because my mom is allergic to beef. So instead of having ground beef hamburgers, we had venison burgers.
I would also say that many would be surprised to know all the benefits that hunters/hunting does for our wildlife habitat here in the US. When you hear of reintroductions of new species, that is almost always funded by fish and wildlife divisions which receive their monies from hunters through license purchases or hunter donations. For example, just here in Kentucky over the past 10 years, we have reintroduced elk and bear that are both flourishing. Honestly, even though anti-hunters think hunters must have no respect for nature because they shoot poor "Bambi", majority of hunters admire and appreciate wildlife more than most. They can make the distinction between animals and humans, however. That is the difference.
Lastly, I despise any hunter that does not harvest humanely, poaches, and doesn't follow the rules. These "hunters" are criminals and assholes.

I am pro-hunting in that we process and eat what we can consume in a year's time. For the most part, that meat comes from the population control hunt in our city. DH volunteers a day of his time to help field dress the deer that are then donated to the food bank and in turn gets to keep what he can eat. It is good for the deer population, the safety of the residents of this city, and the wildlife organization.
I am anti-hunting when it comes to the exotic game ranches where African animals are bred and stocked on a large piece of land and for a high price, you can have a trophy animal on your wall without leaving the country!
All that said, I hate seeing pictures of smiling faces holding up a dead animals head. Be honest here folks, the larger the antlers, the grosser the meat. Most of those trophy's make shit food so don't say that is the only reason you hunt.
I do not know a single person that takes JOY in killing an animal. DH feels bad about it every time he takes a life. It's not something a person takes lightly. And I have never had a shitty piece of "trophy venison" but I've never had baby deer, so maybe I don't know what I'm missing.
Uh... Did I say a baby deer?
Is it not common sense that the older a buck, the larger the antlers? We eat primarily does.

It seems like if he really felt bad about the life he just took, he wouldn't be stopping for a photo op with the carcass.

No you didn't, but just so you know, rack size can depend a lot on the bloodline, not age. DH gets 2 buck tags, and unlimited doe tags. He fills his buck tags and stops bc we don't need that much meat.
I guess it depends on how many points you want. Older the deer, higher the points.
ETA: I looked back at the photo you posted. That buck is at least 4 years old. Maybe you just haven't had good meat if he doesn't hunt does so you don't realize how gamey old meat is in comparison.
Re: PIP your husband?
Also, @ElleStaxx , Mr. Staxx is an excellent porn name. #staxxisntreallyyourlastnameright?
