  Fireworks do suck. Bless my child for sleeping though them, because I didn't. Why were people setting them off @ 3 am? WHY?!

  We are up. I have a feeling today will be a lazy day. DD looks EXHAUSTED. Good thing we purposely didn't plan anything today (DH has to work). Tomorrow we are visiting friend and family, so we decided today is a day of rest.

  The kids let me sleep in this morning which is great because all last week at the beach they woke up either before 6 or right after. Today is DH's birthday so we might hit up the pool and then go to his parents house for bday dinner later and fireworks after that.

  Good morning!
  
  I heard fireworks half the night it seemed. Luckily for me, neither the dog or the kid was bothered. I've already made breakfast and lunch and done dished this morning. We are heading to the beach soon.

  We took the kids to a friend's house for a BBQ and fireworks. Both kids were exceptionally well behaved and we ended up staying out until 10:30. I'm usually INSISTENT on being home by bedtime, so I was shocked when I realized what time it was. Had a great time though! And kids slept in til 8.
  
  Today we're going to lay low, do some cleaning and laundry, and start packing for vacation.

  DS was up about 2.5 hours past when he would have normally gone to bed and only slept in by an hour. I'll take it!

  Good morning! My day is actually off to a pretty good start. E slept until 8, my biscuits and gravy came out fantastic, my husband is not being annoying, and E hasn't whined at all. She's being extra sweet and snuggly. Now we're sipping coffee and watching HGTV.

  I went on a 6.8 mile run this morning! Now I'm eating the biggest salad in the world. No real plans for the day, kids are exhausted after yesterday. I didn't see or hear any fireworks tho, so I consider that a win. I am a curmudgeon.

  I'm in Bed ignoring my child and SO just told me he is going fishing. RUINS my plan to let him parent and me sleep since I was up all Night with his snoring and Sam's tossing and turning.

  DH is eating all the crackers after I balanced the checkbook & pointed out that he single handedly spent nearly $500 last week on his "vacation" & has not a damn thing to show for it. Sure, some of it was fun stuff with the kids, but a large portion of it was just bullshit frivolous charges.

  I had to take DS to another family July 4th weekend event alone and it ended with both of us in tears. I have seriously never felt like a shittier parent than I have the past five months. And I'm so sick of hanging out with DH's family and having it be so obvious that MIL loves the other grandkids more than DS. I feel like such an Eeyore lately, sorry guys.   It's an ongoing fight in our marriage actually. He sees it, but doesn't care. I think he doesn't care because he's subconsciously devalued himself due to his mom constantly favoring his brother their whole lives. He's just used to it and thinks this is normal or ok. He has said "even if my mom came out and said she loves DS, but she loves the other grandkids more, I wouldn't care because it's not a contest."   So sorry @littlestjerry‌ Unfortunately i can relate to that bullcrap. My mother (in addition to numerous other issues) ignores my kids...and lives 2 miles away. No excuse to not see them or spend time with them. She's never even met DD because she is holding a grudge over not being allowed to attend her birth (we didn't have MIL there either). Yet she is currently about 900 miles away having flown to greet her 'very special granddaughter' that my brother and his wife just had. She is plastering pics all over fb about it and how overjoyed she is. Yet she has no problem ignoring the 7 grandkids who live right down the road from her, as well as my sister's kids who are maybe a half hour away. What. The. Fuck.

  Sorry, @my5sons‌. That's worse than my MIL, so I can't imagine how it makes you feel. At least I've learned from this that I need to take great pains to make my kids feel equally loved and baked as people.

  It's just so hurtful...I don't know how she can be so cruel. But I know what you mean...it just makes me all the more determined to make sure that my kids all feel just as loved and cared for as their siblings.

  Welp looks like DD has hand foot mouth after all. Doc said it would present with fever and then a rash. She didn't have the rash at all, but she does now that her fever is gone. Doesn't seem to itch though, so hoping it doesn't bother her. Poor kiddo.

  I'm procrastinating showering, but I need to get my ass moving. Ds is napping, as is dh, since he got home this morning. Needless to say the fire dept was very busy last night, and it was his battalion chief's last night before retirement, so they had a "happy hour" in the park. 8am beers on top of no sleep, he is toast.
  
  I got up and made lemon/blueberry bars, brownies, pork in the smoker, zucchini/corn salad, and breakfast for everyone. Kept ds outside for almost 2 hours so he didn't wake up dh. Party To go to after naps, them dinner with friends and hopefully taking ds to the fireworks tonight if he is still up.
