2 different opks @ same time, 2 different results (not a newb ? just an observation & discussion)

Cycle 1 & 2 I'd been using Answer Opk test strips. I did get pos with them, but I found it difficult to read if the line was actually same/dark (insert staring at opk test images via google). I heard through word of mouth that Clear Blue digi was more accurate, although very expensive.
I've been testing since cd8. Yesterday, cd12, I did CB digi & Answer strips that I had left over. CB gave me smiley face, Answer was neg. Today's tests both pos. Just thought it was interesting that I got a CB pos one day sooner than the Answer. I looked up some consumer reports on opks (I'd have to search it again if anyone's wanting specific source) and come to find out the Answer opks are considered the worst in detecting even high amounts of LH. Good thing I used CB digi, guess I detected the actual start of my surge, vs the middle or end of it. We've had sex past 2 nights & gonna continue tonight & tomorrow.

Anyway, sorry if this feels like the typical newbie blogs...
Just wanting to put something up for discussion, if anyone has had same thing happen. Not necessarily w/ the Answer strips, but just 2 different opk results.

I've never use the CB Digital, but I thought I heard that a blinking smiley was positive and a solid smiley was "gearing up?" Or am I mixing up info?
There are two different types of CB Digitals.  One that also detects an estrogen surge (that gives a blinking smiley) and one that just detects LH (just gives a solid smiley).

Yeah the one I'm using is the solid smiley only. It's already expensive, I believe I saw prices of darn near $50 or over for the advanced digi

OP, in your intro you mentioned that you weren't temping yet. Might I suggest that you begin to do so? Personally I don't bother with OPK's, they don't confirm ovulation and only tell you that your body may be gearing up to do so. Temping will confirm ovulation, albeit after the fact.

The confirmation from temping is more valuable information. If you only do one, I would suggest that you temp (of course temping and OPK's used together is great as well). Only using OPK's seems like a waste to me.

I'm actually starting to temp, although this month is just as a trial.  My work schedule is flexible that one day I might wake up at 7, the next 10.  So I'm shooting for 7am everymorning.  I started randomly on cd8, so I'm not expecting to be able to interpret it well.  I just wanted to see if I can actually commit myself to serious temping - I like my sleep flexibility but I know I need to start temping if I truly want to detect O instead of assuming whatever my dpo might be.

I already know that Opk only confirms the lh surge gearing up, and means nothing in regards to actual O.  This post was just about the interesting discovery of getting 2 different opk readings for the same urine test.

I have used Answer opks. I haven't had an issue telling if it was positive or not. The positive OPK does align with my temping. I think the trick with opks may be timing when during the day you test. If I use fmu, I will get a weeks worth of opks. Later in the day testing is more accurate for me.

Just wanted to say that this happens all the time when people use multiple OPKS brands. Just decide which you like best or find easiest and stick with that one. Keep having sex and keep temping and try not to let it worry you, it definitely happens a lot.

FWIW, my temps are fairly consistent no matter what time I temp as long as I had a good night's sleep before... Most days I wake up at 7am for work, but on days I work from home I sleep in until closer to 8:30, and on weekends I like to sleep until 9 or 10.  And my temps seem pretty accurate.  However, I know a lot of people need to temp at the same time every day, so maybe play around with it and see what works for you!

Thanks ladies.  I know I don't have much to base b/c of starting cd9, but I am noticing that 4 or more hours of sleep gives accurate temp, vs same time everyday.  On another board, I was told it MUST BE same time every day.  Well my schedule just doesn't work with that.  I'm also a light sleeper & wake up frequently (to pee or toss & turn).  Everyday has been between 4-7am.  Yesterday I was sleep deprived & temped at 3:30, my temp was high & now FF won't recognize an O pattern.  But I already know the rules - look for the overall pattern.  So eh, it's whatever right now, I'm just trialing it.  I think I'll get more serious about it next month.

ETA:  Here's a look at my chart in case anyone's curious.

FWIW my temps are never close when I temp at 7:30 one morning and 10 the next. Today I temped at ten and it was 97ish, when at 7:30 it's 96ish
Yeah mine are going up and down b/c of not temping at the same time. But from what I've read here & FF, you want to look for an overall pattern to see any shifts

Yeah I didn't get a + with Answer on O-day, mid-afternoon... but got a + with FMU the next morning. I think I'll keep using next cycle, but only with FMU...
