Trying to Get Pregnant

NBR: Advice needed...

Ok ladies, here goes:

My grandmother, who I was extremely close to, died 5 years ago on Jan 13th from Leukemia at a relatively young age. I have been wanting to get a memorial tattoo in her honor for about 6 months now. DH and I keep talking about me getting it but he's not completely on board. I want a small hibiscus flower (hibiscus are also called Roses of Sharon - Sharon was her name, and she LOVED Hawaii - they went at least once a year!) on my ankle with the words, "Love aways, Grandma" ?(how she signed all her letters) around it. My DH says that he considers my ankle a sexual spot and doesn't want to be reminded of my grandma when he's turned on. I understand that. But I have no idea where else to put it. If I am set on putting it there he doesn't want me to get it at all. What do you ladies think? I'm so torn. I love my DH (duh!) but my grandma was so special to me and I want to have something I could look at every day and carry with me in her honor.

?Thanks in advance! Obviously, if I am pregnant this cycle I will be waiting a LONG while to get this tattoo, but if not, I would like to get it as close to the 13th as possible.

?Thanks again!?

  • If you want it somewhere discrete, I would get it on your hip, unless that would bother DH also.

  • Dumb question - but have you asked your DH where HE would recommend/be happy with it?
  • how about just the flower without the words.   Still a remembrance, and if anyone asks it's significance you can tell your story.

  • top of the foot can be cute too....pretty easy to hide if needed
  • Wow. What a cool story and a great idea.

Hmm - some place that won't get stretched in another pregnancy...

Could you do a shoulder blade? Upper arm?

Honestly, after a while, I think he won't notice it on your ankle. I like the ankle the best.

My husband won't do the tattoo think AT ALL. He grew up around a bunch of people who got their tattoo's free courtesy of the Nazi's so for him the association with any tattoo is negative. Those were the ONLY people in his community with tattoos which, I guess is not uncommon in Israel.

  • I like the hip also.  Like sort of on the back where a "muffin top" would sit, lol, I like them there.  That could be taken as a sexual sopt also, considering he thinks of your ankle as one.  I would ask him where he wouldn't mind you get it.  That way it will make both of you happy.

  • Yikes. I have a few things to say about this one.

    A. It's your body, not your husband's.

    B. He's going to be reminded of her any time your naked and he sees it.

    C. I bet you it takes him less than 24 hours with blueballs before he gets over it.

All of that being said, an ankle is a tough place to hide it if you're going somewhere formal. Life may not give you oppportunities where you would want to hide it right now, but you may want to consider putting is somewhere more discreet for down the road when you're older.

  • Thanks Ladies!!!!!

Yeah, I have asked him where he WOULD be ok with it...his lame response was anywhere but your ankle. grrr...

I have a tattoo on the front of my hip two celtic hearts joined together, they are both about the size of a quarter each. I got the first one when I was 18, and the second one when DH and I got married 5 years later. They stretched BAD during my pregnancy with DD and I wouldn't want to get one there again, I wouldn't recommend it ever either! They are slightly misshappen now although, not horribly. Obviously at 18 I was NOT thinking about getting PG someday. haha.??

?I don't really want to do the shoulder blade or back of the hip for fear he would say the same thing (we enjoy several positions where he would have full view of it in either location! *wink wink*).?

Yeah, maybe doing it without the words would be an idea. I'll bring that up!?

He's not pro tattoos but I came with one so he's gotten used to it! haha! ?

?Anyways, thanks again! I appreciate it! I knew I could count on you ladies to help me cover all the angles and give me some tips!?

You're the bestest Bumpies a girl could ask for! :) ?
