Would you judge a mom for changing a baby's diaper on a blanket in the play place area of a mall?

She's got a blanket under the baby so it's all good. On the ground I might side-eye a little cuz poop can get everywhere. But I'd judge more if she just let the baby sit in it.

  • Oh, good because my 4 year old is having a blast and I didn't want to make her leave just because I need to change little man's diaper. Hope I'm not being judged, lol.

  • lol @babym6705‌ I was judging you for being judgy! I was actually thinking, "Maybe she has other kids there that would be difficult to wrangle up since they're playing. You don't know her life!" =))

Vinny, I was just thinking that after OP revealed why she was asking that all the people who voted yes are probably thinking, "Crap, it's a good thing polls are anonymous!"

  • I change her wherever whenever. Today I did on my lap on the airplane multiple times and I'll often recline her stroller and change her there. No big deal at all IMO.

  • With having other kids, I almost never change my LO in the bathrooms unless it's poop.

I wouldn't judge that but I was at ikea the other day and we sat at tables having ice cream. Anyway, the lady next to us put her baby on the table (nothing under) and started changing the grossest poopy diaper. I may have gagged...and they were still eating at the time. I would have lost my appetite thinking of the gross tables but I love the ice cream way too much.
  • @Calla123 - that I would judge because (1) other people are eating and those poopy diapers can be so gross and (2) with nothing under the table there's a good chance that some
poop is getting on the table. As far as the OP's situation and the others mentioned, you do what you have to. My DH gets all uptight about where we change diapers and it drives me nuts.

I did it once on the bench seat of my booth at a diner because the bathroom had no changing station and the bathroom floor was filthy. Maybe against health codes, but I'd rather do it there on a blanket than on that nasty floor. I was pretty quick about it, and nobody said anything.

  • If you are discreet on a bench, no big deal. But laying a baby in a poopy diaper on the table with nothing underneath is just gross. And I agree there have been some public bathrooms I refused to lay my LO down in.

  • I often say to myself if this okay to change here? I hate going into a bathroom and finding no changing station, but I have mastered sitting on the toilet and changing awet diaper. For those of you that say you dont use the changing stations cause they are gross, do you not have the changing pad to go under? Or even with that you think its still gross?
  • When DD was 18month we went to the zoo with her friend E who is 2 months older. Me and my GF pulled off to the side of the sidewalk and changed them there. Really we didn't need to be clogging up a RR for 2 toddlers in diapers and all the crap they come with.
  • nop as long as they are using something to change the diaper example blanket or changing mat, just beacause of germs i dont want to leave any and wouldnt like DS to catch any as well but would i judge someone?? uhhhhhhhh no.

  • How are you all changing babies on laps?! I can barely change LO on the back seat of my SUV. Guess I need more practice.

    Ninja skillz.

  • Not at all, I've done it on a bench at an animal park!!
Plus some changing facilities are disgusting!!
  • I breast fed and changed several diapers at the mechanic yesterday waiting for my car to be fixed no one cared or stared.

As long as baby is clean and healthy
