IMO a "bar" is defined as: a place where one consumes alcohol. No foods are served, ever. It's dark, dank, no windows, and children are deft not supposed to be in there, ever.

then there are no bars at all in WA. we have this weird law that if you serve alcohol, you must serve food "from the kitchen". (ie more than just peanuts).

This is the lamest piece of information I've ever heard!! Why WA, why!?
No LQ in the grocery store in RI and there is a stop and shop right over the border (MA) and they don't have it there either (where they do sell LQ in the grocery store)....they're onto us
In TX a child of any age can sit at the bar and have an alcoholic beverage if the parent is present and consents. And yet liquor is sold through a seperate store, not past 9pm and never on Sundays.

All ya'll just need to STFU. In Pennsylvania we have to buy our beer at a beer distributor and our wine and liquor at a State Store. TWO DIFFERENT STORES! AND, if that's not bad enough, most aren't even open on Sundays. There is no beer or wine or alcohol of any kind being sold outside of these state licensed establishments. It's hell.
