In an attempt to distract myself from my life, I've spent the past few evenings trying to plan Colby's big boy room. The one that he hopefully won't need for another year. I found some bedding that I like. I'm not in love with it, but it will work really well with the color scheme I have in mind, and I won't need to repaint his room. It's on sale and I think they are getting ready to discontinue it. Nice job holly, fall in love with bedding a year before you need it when you have absolutely no money to buy it.
There will always be another bedding option. For now, I'd save the money for more immediate needs.

oh I'm not getting it, talk about an unnecessary purchase

I am beyond tired.  No real reason for it.  We've had our 3 nephews staying with us this week and it has been fun.  I'm bummed though because I had to work all week.  DH got to take off and spend time with them. Kinda jealous of that. We don't get to see them often and it's been almost a year since we saw them last.  We are going on a 6 hour road trip on Friday (I posted for ideas) and I am dreading the drive so much!  OK I'll quit rambling on now.  **Gotta stay awake**

  • Good luck @shiggybop!

We need after pics @Cheenomae.  KIDDING.

I love your job @MarisaKathleen  I know it's a PITA for you but it is so entertaining to all of us!

@Holly_1007 I hope you do in fact end up being cheered up by your birthday get together - at least it is people who love you and just want to celebrate you even if it's on their terms, I know how that is.

I am so tired, I am going to bed by 9 tonight.  I have so much to do for our 4th of July open house, but am feeling run down and losing my voice and I don't want to be sick for it so I'm not going to kill myself doing things tonight.    I hope this does not backfire!

  • I'm taking a class right now twice a week for the next 8 weeks and the commute is awful.   Sorry to vent but I'm just ready for these summer session classes to be over.

I'm officially half way through my 30 day BodyRock challenge and my body does feel much stronger. MH says he sees my back toning up and my legs for sure.  It's nice to see the differences.  I'm anxious to take my after pictures.  I think I'm going to try to do this for the rest of the year.

DH and I are starting to look at hardwood flooring options, and I'm already overwhelmed with types, colors, etc. But the carpet must go.
We just painted our second living room a white color and sure enough it drew out every stain in the carpet to broad daylight.  So we're on the road to hard wood for that room.  There is hard wood under the carpet...but IDK if it would be best to restore that one or get new.  I dread this project.  Putting it off till next spring.

when we first bought our house we looked into restoring our hardwood floors, I expected it to be a lot more expensive than it was, at least half the cost of just replacing it. It's a disaster no matter which way you decide to go with it, so there's that...

This is what I'm thinking.  And this particular hardwood is the same as what is in the rest of the house so I might as well just opt to restore it for the sake of it all looking the same.  I hope it's in decent condition.

  • I have to go to a conference for the next three days and I've spent the last hour waiting for my under-powered laptop to transfer some file I need to look at. I should have been packing or doing laundry, but instead I sat around and browsed birthday party ideas.

cause apparently, after bitching about planning a wedding all year, i MUST plan something else now that it's over

  • Does anyone else get a burst of energy once the kids are in bed? 7-8pm I'm a walking zombie, but by 8:30 I'm ready to go run a marathon.

    STUCK.
Nope.  I come downstairs, clean up the toys, get my water out of the fridge, grab my shot so I don't have to get back up in 15-20min @ 8pm and then sit down on the couch where I remain for an entire hour with my Kindle.  Then I go to bed. :-)  I should be painting my basement and finishing any number of crafts that aren't done, but I can't.  I don't have the brainpower or energy for anymore after 740pm.

  • Tonight DH is taking both the cats to the vet for their shots.  Last time Wanda was at the vet they had to put a cat muzzle on her. :-(  Hence why I cannot go.  It makes me sad that my cat hates everyone but me.

Also, Mavis is still peeing on our dining room floor and basement floor.  Exact same spots.  I'm actually hoping that she has a bladder infection or something because if this is just a behavior problem, I'm out of ideas on what to do.  She's only 7.  I can't bear the idea of putting her to sleep, and I don't want to turn her over to a shelter because she's such a scardey cat, I feel like they'd put her down.  I'm really hoping that if it comes down to it, my guy BFF will take her.  He lives alone, has no prospects for having children and loves cats.  Maybe Mavis doesn't like living with us anymore because of Nancy.  I have no idea.

  • I'm super crabby today. I took the week off since my BIL and SIL are in town. We were supposed to go to our condo. Nope, cancelled at the last minute. DH worked mon, tues and up til 12 today, he's now golfing. I feel like a took a week off to sit at home with my kid and clean up the house. Not my idea of a vacation. Also someone left spoiled milk is ds's diaper bag, it spilled (awesome) and I can't find two pairs of ds's shorts. It's only 12:30 can I open a bottle of wine yet?

It's 90something degrees outside and they have not turned the air conditioning on in our offices all day.  I am melting.

My cat is doing the same thing. Our vet just tested her for infection and found nothing. He suggested taking the lid off the litterbox, only using clumping litter without a strong scent, adding Cat Attract to the box, scooping it twice a day, getting an extra box (although I'm holding off on this bc I don't have a good place to put another one). I also got an enzymatic cleaner that helps, and I ordered her pheremone collars from Amazon. He said some cats just get more finicky as they get older and it could be something as simple as she doesn't feel like walking past the dog to get to her litter box. But I'm seriously going to kill her if this continues.

  • @melody921, we have 4, yes 4 litter boxes that get cleaned out 2x a day.  once in the morning, once at night.  We've tried feliaway, we've tried the Nature's miracle, lemon oil, tea tree oil, bleach and we have unscented clumping litter.  It's just within the last 6ish months or so she started this, and she's always been just the sweetest cat.  She's just afraid of everything.  I think it might be a physical thing, just because Wanda's been hissing at her, she's doing it in the same 2 spots, and isn't sleeping with me at night.  She sleeps right outside our door in the tiny corner by the door.  It's weird.

I've had cats my whole life and have never had one that has some kind of an issue, so this is all uncharted for me.  Dr. Google is of no help.  Maybe cat prozac will be the solution...

I wouldn't say run a marathon but yes I feel like I get a burst usually before bed. Sometimes I'll do a few things around the house or I'll plop on the couch and watch some DVR. Either way bedtime is 10pm.

Have you tried a pheromone collar? I really did notice a difference with our cat.

I'm here! Overwhelmed with being pregnant, building our house, trying to sell this house.
I'm going to throat punch these asshat buyers. Our agent came to an agreement with their attorney that we would accept their offer, subject to appraisal, with an October 1st closing. But if any other offers came in while we are held up by their appraisal, we could accept it.
Their attorney was supposed to fax the paperwork today, but has since gone radio silent. It would be convenient to have the house under contract, but I also really fucking hate these two and don't want them living in our house.

Monday was incredibly expensive. Today was eye doctor day. Apparently I am now allergic to my contacts and therefore have white cysts in my eyes. This is a major problem as it means that I can't wear my contacts and my glasses give me severe headaches. I got new ones last year to see if it would help and it did not. Because I will have to wear them so much now, I had to order new glasses. Ouch. I will also have to switch to one a day contacts and pay for them OOP. If these new glasses aren't any better, someone will pay.

Why such a late closing date? When we bought our first house, the sellers were building a new house and we were renting so we agreed to close in 45 days and then rent the house back to the sellers for a few months. Is that an option? I would hate to lose that much time if the closing doesn't actually happen.
