That's weird, I think it typically works the other way around. Once you are older and have more money, you forget what it's like to be young and hungry.
My dad is like super right-wing- listens to Rush Limbaugh and all the Fox crazies, has the Ann Coulter books, etc.
Well, well, well guess who signed up for Medicare?
The irony makes me LOL inside.
You actually don't have a choice about going on Medicare once you reach a certain age. My dad tried not to go on Medicare, but it really isn't possible.

Yea I think there is a penalty you have to pay if you don't

I'm up to my ears in stuff for the SM, so I don't really have time to school you in something you should really educate yourself on before making such broad statements. There's many loopholes that don't require Medicare enrollment at age 65, typically forced enrollment is tied to Social Security benefits. Here's one link, but feel free to do some of your own research: https://www.aarp.org/health/medicare-insurance/info-03-2011/ask-ms-medicare-question-94.html
Eta: sorry for the extra snark--I'm a little pissy today. It's not you, it's me.
Ok, maybe it's a little bit you.
But it's like 80% me.
Ooooh maybe I was confusing this with social security benefits.. I just know one of my clients had to pay a penalty for not enrolling right when she retired for whatever reason.. But she was collecting social security, so maybe that's why. I always get confused with Medicare.

Please do tell.

Haha. No big deal. I can take the snark. My dad is 71 and partially retired. When he turned 70 he tried to continue to purchase private insurance and this was going to cost around 5k a month, which he obviously was nowhere near being able to afford. This is where I agree the healthcare system is broken, but still disagree with the ACA as the solution. #iwillplayniceandcallittheaca

I find it funny when people say they are Republican unless they are actually in the 1%. The Right wingers wouldn't urinate on the 99% if we were on fire.
I'm very socially liberal. I believe in equal rights for all humans regardless of my personal religious beliefs. For example, I believe same sex couples should be allowed to marry.
I confess though that I am not current enough on fiscal policy and other government regulations to say which way I lean there. In the past, I feel I have leaned fiscally conservative when I've looked more deeply. But I cannot say I current enough at the moment to make opinions either way.
I'm a republican, and a social worker. Well, not at the moment as I SAH, but nevertheless. I am definitely more moderate than I was the first time I voted, 6 years ago. But, I doubt I will ever be anything other than a republican. I get along pretty well with the dems though, I lived in Madison Wisconsin after all.
