Angel monitor

A friend let me borrow her angel movement monitor. She explained how to use it (she didn't still have actual instruction manual) and i just noticed on one of the pads it says to put a piece of plywood under crib mattress. My friend didn't mention this. Any experience with this? Thanks!

Re: Angel monitor

  • If needs some extra support or the bottom isn't flat and smooth. I just put it under DS mattress on the floor and it worked.

Play around with it. Put baby on the mattress and see if it picks up their movement properly.

  • Yes, we had a piece of plywood under DS1's crib b/c he only had the spring support under his mattress. DS2's crib came with a hard surface imstead of springs so we don't need the plywood this time. Wish I could somehow give you ours! You should be able to just go to a Home Depot type place and get one for very cheap. I love, love my angel care monitor and couldn't sleep (myself) without it.

  • We have one and I just put it right on the spring/metal web mattress support. It works great. We've never had an actual incident, but our LO is quite the mover and has wiggled off of it a few times in the night. It's gone off as it should, so I don't think we need the plywood over the mattress support.

I really love having it, it's a great sound monitor as well (even monitors room temperature), plus the movement/breathing monitor is a HUGE peace of mind.

It should work even if LO isn't exactly on it. Ours picks up movement from DS when he's on the other side of a twin. There is a sensitivity dial on the bottom of the baby unit. :)

We got a piece of plywood from Home Depot.  It's worked great for 3 years.

Intersting ... I should check out the settings.

  • We have a piece of plywood under ours. DD1 is 22 months (we still use hers), and hers will occasionally go off if she is sleeping with her bottom really high in the air so her chest is off the mattress somewhat. She can pretty much move to any spot in the crib and it picks her up.
