Hubby and I met through a mutual friend who had no intentions of setting us up. She was home for Christmas and just getting together with friends for drinks and he happened to be there. Rest is history.
I would say we are pretty much complete opposites and I would have never pictured myself with someone like him. I am type A personality, driven, goal oriented, strong willed, highly focused on education, more quiet and laid back.
DH on the other hand more play than work, rather do nothing all day than make sure the house is clean, has an education but not interested in continuing education, content in his job but not necessarily happy, very out going, very social. He basically goes with the flow. If we are running late, so what ... I freak out if I'm not 5 minutes early.
He is far from the handyman. He would rather pay someone to do the work than try and do it himself. I was the one who took the sink a part to unclog the drain (he almost called a plumber), I stopped the toilet from running, I recharged his AC in the car, I replaced his fuses and light bulbs. He is OK with the fact that I am better with tools than he is. I don't rub it in his face or make him feel less manly. I am just cheap as HELL, and if I can do it, why pay someone else.
All in all we really do complete and compliment each other. Now I can't picture myself with anyone else. I can't imagine myself with the "type" of guy that I once thought I would marry. Of course he drives me insane sometimes (what husband doesn't do that) but he is my better half. :-)
You sound exactly like me. Your H sounds exactly like FI... we would probably all be great friends lol. Except the handyman stuff.. I don't fix stuff.. I can barely hang a picture straight.
These stories are so adorable. My h and I were introduced by my grandparents. Our grandfathers went to flight school together 50 years ago, so we say we have family history. I wasn't interested in him at first bc he was a marine and I swore I would never date military. He asked me to go horseback riding and I said yes, not thinking of it as a date. But we spent everyday together after that.
We were dating when he retired, so I didn't have to put up with much of the military stuff. He told me he wanted to move to Texas (we were in Hawaii) and it sucked to leave my family and life there, but he was worth it. So we got engaged and made the move.
He's definitely a good ol Texas boy. He loves guns, beer, and his country. He's loyal and treats me so so good. This little girl of ours has really softened him up quite a bit and I know he'll be a wonderful daddy. He's thoughtful, romantic, and a true gentleman.
I got the bad boy turned total sweet heart... I just received a new position at work where I had to answer phones and go over paper work with contractors across the country.. I lived in Las Vegas and was dealing with small town folk in Ohio...a few days after I started,he called to have me fill out his paper work we were on the phone for over an hour laughing at at each other and having fun... That ended up being about 20 phone calls a day (outside of work).. After a few months of talking he called and told me he was buying me a plane ticket... I flew out to Ohio the next day...came back to Vegas and knew he was the one... We talked for another 6 months. one day I got a notice on my door that my land lord had let the apartment go into foreclosure... He told me it looks like the world is telling you it's time to move to Ohio and we can start our family... I was preganut a month after moving and I couldn't be happier! Even though a little crazy...
He's a contractor who does home remodeling and also works for the company I work for cleaning up forclosed homes. He's 39 I'm 32 and he is soooooo excited for our little girl! He's already planning date night for him and her
I met my hubby at a local bar when I had gone out with my brother for drinks. He and my brother had partied together before, and so we started talking. Apparently he was pretty impressed that I drank Jack, and I was pretty impressed with his dance moves. That was almost 13 yrs ago, and we've been together ever since. (Married almost 5 yrs) I love the fact that even after all this time, I can still learn from him and be surprised by him!
He is a very talented, crafty/mechanical guy. He builds custom trailers, has fully remodeled our house, and makes all sorts of woodworking projects. He is pretty quiet, but very opinionated and willing to stand up for his beliefs. A total sports/game nut, so he's hoping to be able to be able to play video games with the baby! We are both farm kids, and are hoping to move back to the country soon to raise our family.
ETA - sorry, not sure what happened to my formatting!
