DD (3 wks old) hates the car seat, screams bloody murder. We have the snug ride 35 so that's our stroller for her right now too (clicks in). It's severely limiting our ability to leave the house. Anyone else going through this?

Make sure the straps aren't too tight and that she has a clean diaper before you put her in. That's the only things I can think of? Also, highly suggest a baby carrier and just wear her.

Yeah we've tried that, still stumped. I did read to loosen the diaper it could be cinching up and cutting into her.

We do plan on baby wearing but that's hit and miss as well. She is small and doesn't fit the ktan yet. Cries in the beco with ergo newborn insert. Will keep trying. Not leaving the house is tough.

So may have started my period today.. Had bright red bleeding at 5 weeks pp from c section. Midwife said it is fairly uncommon for breastfeeding women. Any one experience early periods?

MJ has not been burping despite all efforts and periodically erupts like a geyser spitting up so much.If we lay her onnher back she will spit up too but nothing like the periodic explosion. She is most content on her tummy. For those who have/had babies with some reflux or spitting issues, have any of you been having LOs sleep on their tummys?

My LO seems to be having gas issues when flat on her back. We elevated her mattress by putting some books under it so that she is angled a bit upright. Last night we also put her down on her back, then rolled her a little on her side and placed a rolled up burp cloth between her back and the mattress. She was swaddled and not able to roll. This seemed to help a lot with the fussing.

She does nap on her tummy during the day when we are around.

My baby makes these loud grunting and clenching noises. He looks like he's trying to squeeze out a big poop or something. I assumed it was gas but I'm not so sure. It doesn't seem to be bothering him, he's not crying or upset, he just does it constantly?? And he has plenty of poopy diapers. Anyone?

I notice it the most in the morning or as he is waking from a nap. He was doing it as I posted that question and I just flipped him over on my knees and rubbed his back and huge toot followed by a rumbly stomach ensued

@izzetoot‌ I was told by our nurse that the grunting is a sign of reflux. The grunting is their attempt at pushing the acid back down. We took her into the doctor yesterday and she prescribed Zantac so we will see if it helps

Good to know, she grunts and spits up... @taylorgabbitas how did the Doc diagnose? Any tests or just Q&A with you?

It has a natural sugar and sugar causes babies to get "high". It quite literally is like giving someone caffeine for the first time. It also has a narcotic pain relief effect as well. It releases endorphins and makes life "good".

They have something in hospitals they call "sweeties". They use it for procedures instead of pain meds.

Also works great to give right before shots too.

Love that stuff.

@izzetoot‌ we have a TON of spitting up as well. Sometimes 3 or 4 times a feeding. Diagnoses was just q&a though. Doctor basically explained all babies have reflux because of their immature systems, it's when it's making them uncomfortable that they treat them for it. She told us the medicine can't hurt anything only help so it doesn't hurt to try it.

I tried this, but doesn't seem to make a difference. Just makes her face smell like stale milk, lol.

I don't know how to be happy. All I wanted was for her to sleep more, yesterday was a nightmare as my first day alone with her and she wouldn't settle.

Today she slept for hours at a time, and all I am doing is worrying it means she will be up all night.

Anyone else? Share in the crazy with me?

Yes, except I have a toddler as well so I worry she'll wake him up when hr finally sleeps and if he can sleep through her noise I worry that he'll sleep all day.

So rough! She has been fussy since around 7pm so we'll see what happens.

I'm reading a book about infant sleep and it says the better babies sleep during the day the better they'll sleep at night. Hopefully she'll get a good night's sleep tonight for you mama!

This. We just started doing the happiest baby on the block technique like 2 days ago and so far noticed that she sleeps better at night even though she sleeps more during the day. Hopefully it's not a fluke, lol.

@Pepper6‌ I tried breastmilk before and i thought it worked. But somehow it stopped working (or maybe never worked)! Now she has a ton on her face and it breaks my heart! How long does it take for the acnes to go away? My LO is almost a month and she seems to be getting more!

We saw our pedi today for 6 week check in and he said the acne and dry skin starts to clear up at about 8 weeks. Poor little tiny zit babies

W's dig into me when he grips my boob while feeding. I've been trying to clip them every other day but sometimes it is so hard to get him relaxed enough and then into position to clip them.

Try clipping them while he sleeps, that's the only way I was able to do it.

Breastmilk worked for me too. Although, it did take a couple of days. I hope this wasn't a one time phenomenon.

My baby is a week old. Her pediatrician suggested doing some tummy time. Should I be doing this before or after a feeding? Is it ok to do it before her cord scab falls off?

Grandma has come to visit and I have my first opportunity to leave the house without my LO... I burst into tears and have been crying since. I never thought I'd be this mom. Lol. After four weeks of nonstop contact I'm having a real hard time leaving the house. I suppose I have to force myself to do it. Anybody else have difficulty the first time?

H&H2014 yup. this. Granted I am only 10 days PP, but I had to leave him to go to a funeral for two and a half hours and I lost my ish My husband just mentioned going on a date night in the next two weeks because my ped said it would be ok for me to start pumping, and it made me tear up. I feel ya, girl. I don't want to leave mine either.

My doctor suggested 'tummy time' at our 48 hour appointment as well, but she said this was anything that got the baby off her back. So, holding her against our chest, letting her sleep on her tummy on our shoulder, etc. I wouldn't think the cord should get in the way of that, and we've been doing it daily since we brought her home. I don't think there's any right time to do it. Combine it with some skin to skin maybe?

Anyone's baby get super fussy at a particular time of day every day for seemingly no reason? For us this is around 10pm every night and is coupled with hysterical crying and screaming, and she usually takes about an hour+ to settle down. We always go through "the checklist" of reasons why she could be fussing, but it truly seems like it's out of nowhere... any ideas?

Maybe gas or reflux? Once LO is at least a week old you can try gripe water, we just used it for the first time last night when he got like this and it worked pretty well.

@babygabe614‌ - I find that if I don't get the bedtime routine going by 9:30-10-ish, regardless of napping and what have you, LO gets overstimulated and very fussy/cranky.

We could be in the couch with the lights out and him in the mamaroo or pnp, he still doesn't like it.

@babygabe614‌ my pediatrician calls it the witching hour. Ours is around 11-12:30. Very tiring. We use the tips from Happiest Baby on the Block, especially swaddling, putting LO on her side, and giving her the paci. She hasn't responded favorably to white noise and it's too late at night for swinging or music. It works to settle her down, but it still takes a long time to put her to sleep. I'll take what I can get though lol!

We were told to start right away but that anything that isn't putting pressure on the back of his head counts until he will tolerate full on tummy laying, For me it mostly is laying back in the bed or recliner with LO on my chest. I've tried to put him on his tummy a few times but he will only tolerate it when he is about to fall asleep. She said just long enough that he is not screaming, if he seems pissed then tummy time should end.

@lest12 @temurlang1 I just got back from the pedi and asked about the nighttime fussiness and she said it was normal and that LO was probably getting so stimulated during the day, and her body doesn't know how to process it so the "witching hour" happens. She said once she gets her nights and days straightened out, it should get better. I hope this is the case for all of us!

I'm always crazy! If he doesn't sleep during the day I worry, If he does sleep I worry. But at week 3 I'm noticing no matter how much or how little I worry whatever happens happens anyway. I stress out a lot, always wondering if I'm making the right choices but I'm slowly calming down.

@babybean82- we didn't remove ours, I thought I would be nervs having it there like it would fall on him but we put him far enough over that if it did fall it wouldn't fall on him and we use it constantly for changing him so u couldn't imagine not having it up.
